    • Lydia Sheppard

The teacher, Miss Lydia M. Sheppard died here on the Tuesday evening before last. She had suffered from flu in February and had been unwell since then. In the previous week, her heart had also been affected. This brought on death. Miss Sheppard was, among the teachers here, one of the longest-serving members. She had taught for 27 years in the area schools. Burial took place on Friday after a funeral service in the Presbyterian church.
