    • Meets Instant Death in Fall At Speedway

A seven-year-old Bridgeport farm boy, Douglas Brubacher of Woolwich street, was instantly killed last night when he fell under the wheel of a tractor on the Bridgeport Speedway.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Brubacher. Crown Attorney Daufman said no inquest will be ordered into the accident.

      RIDING ON FENDER

Police Chief Cecil Phillips said the mishap occurred while Douglas was riding on the right fender of a tractor driven by Benny Ten[…?], 20, farm hand on the Brubacher farm.
A neighbor, Gerald Berlet, 17, was riding on the left fender. "They were on their way to get a load of hay from a field at the rear of the speedway," the chief said. The gate to the track was open and they were taking a short-cut along the raceway. "Suddenly Douglas fell off the fender into the path of the large rear wheel. He died instantly," the chief said. Dr. C.C. Belyea, coroner, was called and pronounced the boy dead. An autopsy was conducted today.1a
