    • Moving to Canada in 1834, he settled in Galt. He served on village council starting in 1854 and also reeve starting in 1856. He also served as chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Dundas and Waterloo Macadamized Road (Highway 8) which at that time was a toll road. He was a lawyer and important land owner,
