    • Passing of Mrs. A. K. Pitcher

      A resident of Ayr for 46 years, Mrs. Alice Kate Pitcher, 77, died at the K-W Hospital Sunday night. Mrs. Pitcher suffered a heart attack about a month ago and complications set in which necessitated removal to hospital ten days before her passing. She was born at Hants, England, in the New Forest, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Haines. She came to Canada in 1910 following her marriage to the late Harry Pitcher. They eame to Ayr from the Marden district, near Guelph, in 1912. Her husband was killed while serving with Canadian forces at Courcelette in 1916. Mrs. Pitcher was a member of the old Methodist Church here. Since church union she had been a member of Christ Church, where for many years she was active in women's work. A host of friends will mourn her passing. Surviving are three sons. George and James of Kitchener and Hubert of Leamington; and two sisters and a brother in England. Funeral service was held today (Wednesday) at 2:30 p.m. at Christ Church, with Rev. P. A. Sawyer of Guelph in charge. Interment was in Ayr Cemetery.
