Notes |
- BAIN, JAMES may have originated in Scarborough, at any event, his father resided there in 1869. He graduated from Victoria University in 1860, but it was not until 1866 that the first mention of him is found. The Ayr correspondent of the Galt Reporter on November 5, 1869, in the notice of his death says: "The Doctor settled in this place in 1866 and left for the States in 1868. he was a keen politician and possessed of a sanguine temperament. His career in Ayr may be briefly - summed up as short, sharp and decisive. " After leaving Ayr he moved to Utica, Livingstone County Missouri where he died towards the end of October, 1869. According to a letter from the State Historical Society of Missouri, he was survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.
