Sad and Fatal Accident - It is our painful duty to record this week a most distressing accident. On Monday afternoon one of the emery wheels used in the Agricultural Works for polishing plow-shares and mould boards for plows, burst and Mr. James Currie, who was working behind it, was struck over the right eye, by one of the flying pieces. Death must have been instantaneous as he appeared to have struggled none. He had been dead some time when discovered by Mr. Wm. Micks, another workman who had occasion to go into the polishing house at half-past four. Dr. Lovett was immediately called and after a hasty examination ordered that the body be given into the hands of his friends. It is conjectured that the share being ground had caught in the emery wheel and thus caused the bursting. One of the fragments splintered a whole through the side of the frame building. Mr. Currie was about twenty-four years of age and leaves a wife and two children. He was a thoroughly respectable and industrious young man, and it will be long ere his kind disposition, cheery face and active form will be forgotten by his shop-mates and friends.
