    HESPELER, Feb. 1. - Walter Renwick of Saskatoon, Sask., a for- mer resident of Hespeler, passed away suddenly at Toronto on Thursday.

    Mr. Renwick is survived by his wife, the former Maud Schaumberg. one daughter, Mrs. R. C. Slater of Kitchener, a son, James, of Ottawa and a brother, Halbert, of Delhi.

    Interment will be made in the Hespeler Cemetery Sunday after- noon at 3 o'clock.

    RENWICK, JAMES WEIR was born in Moffatt, Scotland in 1847, the son of Walter Renwick. following the death of his mother he came with his father to Hespeler. Here he received his preliminary education, going on to study medicine in Toronto. In 1875 he graduated from Trinity University and began to practice in the village of Scotland. After eight years he moved to Hespeler where his arrival was noted by the Dumfries Reformer of June 21, 1883:

    New doctor. Dr. Renwick, son of our well known townsman, Walter Renwick Esq., has commenced the practice of his profession in the village. The doctor has practised in the village of Scotland, county of Brant, for the past eight years. We wish him success in his native village.

    In 1890 he moved once more, this time to Courtland, where he practised until his death on July 8, 1914. He was survived by his widow and two sons.

    DEATH OF DR. RENWICK
    Courtland Loses a Highly Respected Citizen

    Death came to one of Courtland's oldest citizens on Wednesday, July 3. in the person of James Weir Renwick, M.D.. in his 68th year. He had been in 'll health for some time, but after three days: serious illness he passed to his reward.

    The late Dr. Renwick, had been in the early part of his life an ardent Presbyterian. He was born at Moffatt, Scotland in 1847. After the death of his mother he came with his father to Canada and settled in Hespeler, Ont., where he received his early education, later attending Toronto and Trinity universities, from which he graduated in the year 1875 with the degree of M.D.

    Moving to Scotland to practice medicine, he later married Miss Mary Sophia Beemer. of that place, who survives him with two sons, Walter and Herbert, and one daughter, Miss Swartz, to mourn his death. Later, in the year 1890, he moved with his family to Courtland, where he resided till the last call.

    He was considered a very able physician, but owing to ill health, he was compelled to resign his practice a few years ago. The funeral took place under Masonic auspices in Courtland cemetery, and after the interment a memorial service was held in the Methodist church by Rev. A. S. Trueblood, pastor of the church, who also officiated at the house and grave

    MRS MARY RENWICK, M.D.

    Mrs. Mary Sophia Renwick M.D. relict of the late James Weir Renwick, M. D., of Courtland, passed away on Saturday. Though ailing for the past few weeks, it was only on Thursday that she was seized with a stroke. The deceased, who was in her 71st year, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Beemer and was born at Scotland, Ont. The late Mrs. Renwick was not only well-known in Courtland, but in the whole county, where she practiced medicine, always giving her faithful services to all during her many years of practice. She was of a calm, loving nature, sympathetic and kind, which endeared her to all those with whom she came in contact.

    Her husband predeceased her in 1914: Surviving are two sons, Major Halbert R. of Delhi, Walter of Saskatoon, and two adopted daughters, Miss Yvonne of Toronto and Mrs. Charles Swartz of St. Thomas.

    The funeral service took place on Monday afternoon from her late residence. Rev. Edwin Lee, Delhi, conducted the services. Interment took place in the Courtland cemetery. Pallbearers were George Ryan, John Herron, John Burnett, Bruce Herron, George Travis and William Burnett.

    From at least 1859 until shortly before he died January 5th, 1885, aged 72 years, 20 days, Walter Renwick, native of Peebleshire, conducted a butcher business in Hespeler. His slaughter house was located about where Dr. Gammies' office is now and he delivered off a wagon about the Town. He served as Councillor here in 1866-67 and from 1876-83.
