    CLARA BELLE CLAIRMONT

    Clara Belle Clairmont of Marycrest Nursing Home in Peterborough and formerly of Marmora. passed away on Tues.. Oct. 11. 1983. in her 93rd year. Mrs. Clairmont was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Doerr and was the wife of the late Joseph Dubord Clairmont. She is survived by her children Delores (Mrs. Fred Smith) of Belleville. Helen (Mrs. John Raeside) Glasgow. Scotland. Mamie (Mrs. Andrew Noble) of Sudbury. Lewis Nahrgang of Prince George. B.C., Lillian (Mrs. Art Logan) of Peterborough and John of Cobourg. Also surviving Mrs. Clairmont is a sister. Priscilla (Mrs. Lewis Dahmer of Kitchener) anti 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchild.

    The funeral service took place at the Cassidy Funeral Chapel on Fri.. Oct. 14 with the Rev. Walter Mitter officiating. Interment took place at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers were Pat Logan. Err Nahrgang. Dana Nahrgang. Chris Nahrgang. Bob Noble and Rick Noble.

    Nahrgang.-Josiah Nahrgang was born on June 6, 1859; died June 5, 1926; aged 66 y. 11 m. 30 d. On October 21, 1879 he was married to Esther Reist. To this union were born three girls and two boys, two daughter (Ida and Melinda) having predeceased him. There are left to mourn his sudden departure, his sorrowing companion, four children (Lanson, Vernon, Ralph, and Hilda), seven grandchildren, two brothers (Menno and Henry), two sisters (Mrs. M. C. Cressman and Mrs. Irvin Snider). The funeral was held June 9 from his late home to the Cressman Mennonite Church, Breslau, for services and adjoining cemetery for burial. The services were conducted by Oscar Burkholder. Text, II Cor. 5: 10.

    Josias Nahrgang

    The death of Josias Nahrgang occurred at his home near Shants's Station on Saturday, June 5, in his 67th year. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, two sons, Vernon at home and Lanson in Winnipeg, and one daughter, Mrs. Harold Smith of Port Elgin. Two daughters predeceased him. Five grandchildren, in addition to two brothers, Menno and Henry of New Hamburg, and two sisters, Mrs. M. C. Cressman of Kitchener and Mrs. Ervin Snider of Baden also survive. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the home to the Cressman Mennonite church for services, Interment was made In the adjoining cemetery.

    Nahrgang. --- Esther Nahrgang, was born in Waterloo Twp., Ont., Jan. 20, 1859; died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., March 19, 1950; aged 91 y. 1 m. 29 d. Her husband (Josias Nahrgang) passed away in 1926. Three children (Melinda, Ida, and Lanson) also predeceased her. Three remain one son (Vernon, Port Elgin, Ont.), one daughter (Hilda, Port Credit, Ont.), and 10 grandchildren.. Sister Nahrgang accepted Christ in her youth, was a member of the Cressman Mennonite Church for many years, and at the close of the long journey which God permitted her to travel, gave good evidence of her hope in Christ. About twenty years ago she moved to Port Elgin to live with her son, and had recently moved to the Braeside Home, Preston, Ont., where she richly enjoyed the companionship of elderly Christian people. The funeral was held on March 22, in the Cressman Mennonite Church, with Merle Shantz and Oscar Burkholder in charge. Text: Ps. 91: 16.

    Adam Doerr

    Conestogo, Jan. 9 - Adam Doerr, 87, died at his home here today after a lengthy illness. Born April 13, 1853, at Erbsville, he was an engineer at the C. M. Doerr and Co., for ten years prior to moving to Conestogo where he was a carpenter for 18 years. He retired 15 years ago. The deceased was a member of the Lutheran church. Surviving are two brothers, Edward and Charles M., of Kitchener, five sons, John, Ralph, and Elmer of Kitchener, Clayton of Saskatoon and Abram of Detroit, four daughters, Mrs. Arden Bott, Mrs. L. M. Dahmer and Mrs. Louis Bauman of Kitchener and Mrs. L. Nahrgang of Winnipeg, 23 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The funeral, which will be public, will be held from the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home on Saturday at 3: 30 p.m., with internment at the East End Mennonite cemetery. Rev. S. J. Wittig will conduct the services. The remains are resting at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home.

    ADAM DOERR

    Adam Doerr, Conestogo's oldest resident, died on Thursday morning. Jan. 9, in his 88th year. Deceased was a life-long resident of Waterloo County. He was born near New Dundee, and some fifty years ago moved to Kitchener, where he was connected with the C. H. Doerr biscuit Company. He was a resident of Kitchener for 20 years, moving to Conestogo from that point 30 years
    ago.

    The late Mr. Doerr was a member of Conestogo Lutheran church. His wife predeceased him 16 years ago. Surviving are five sons and four daughters, John, Ralph and Elmer all of Kitchener: Clayton of Saskatoon, and A. B. Doerr of Detroit; Mrs. A. E. Bott, Mrs. I. M. Dahmer and Mrs. L. Bauman, all of Kitchener, and Mrs. L. Nahrgang of Waterloo.

    Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from the Schreiter- Sandrock Funeral Home in Kitchener. Burial was made in the East End Cemetery, Kitchener.

    Death of Mrs. A. Doerr

    The death took place on Tuesday at her home, 139 Wellington street, of Mrs. Adam Doerr. She had been a sufferer for the past 25 years with a complication of diseases. Three years ago she underwent an operation at the B. & W. Hospital, which proved beneficial for a time, but for the past three months she had been confined to her bed. For five weeks she had not been able to take any nourishment, and her strength gradually failed. She was conscious until the last. During the long hours of suffering Mrs. Doerr never complained, but bore her illness with patience and Christian fortitude. The deceased, whose maiden name was Lovina Bechtel, was born in Wilmot Tp., and has resided in Berlin for the past 14 years. She was 52 years, 4 months and 6 days of age. Exactly 34 years ago to the day of her death, she was married to Mr. Adam Doerr, who, with a family of 5 sons and 4 daughters, survive her. The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 1st, at 2 p.m., from her late residence, 139 Wellington street, to Trinity Methodist Church for service, and thence to the East End cemetery for burial. The services at the church will be in both English and German.

    Pre. Joseph Nahrgang
    was born July 26, 1834, on the old homestead adjoining the village of New Hamburg, Waterloo Co., Ont. He was a son of the late Christopher Nahrgang, who came from Switzerland to Canada in 1825. Dec. 22, 1857, deceased was married to mary Shantz, daughter of the late John C. Shantz. He was ordained to the ministry for the Blenheim district June 16, 1876, and had charge of this congregation up to the time of his death, which took place on Monday, Feb. 16, 1903. On Sunday morning, Feb. 15, he, with his wife, went tot he Geiger M.H., a distance of four miles. After services he took dinner with his nephew, Oliver Nahrgang, returning home in the afternoon. After tea he, accompanied by his granddaughter, went to He. Bean M.H., where he preached a sermon from John 3: 16, and started for home after the service in his usual good health. When a short distance from home he was stricken with paralysis. He was quickly taken home, where he lingered in an unconscious condition until the following morning at about four o'clock, when he passed peacefully away. The funeral took place on Thursday, Feb. 19, from his home to the Geiger M.H. for service and burial. Preaching in German by Noah Stauffer from Luke 2: 29, and in English by E.S. Hallman from Rev. 14: 13. He leaves his wife, five sons and two daughters, two daughters having preceded him in death. Owing to the severe cold weather many of his members at Blenheim could not come to the funeral, so they asked Bro. Stauffer to preach a memorial sermon at the Blenheim M.H. on Sunday, Feb. 22. Text, 2 Tim. 4: 7,8.

    Nahrgang. - Mary Shantz was born Aug. 24, 1834; died at the home of her son-in-law, Ervin Snider, near Baden, Ont., Mar. 1, 1917; aged 82 y. 6 m. 5 d. She was married to the late Pre. Joseph Nahrgang Dec. 22, 1857. To them was born a family of 9 children, 5 sons and 4 daughters, of whom 3 sons (Josiah, Menno, and Henry) and 2 daughters (Mrs. M. C. Cressman and Mrs. Ervin Snider) survive, besides 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren - Sister Nahrgang died after a short illness. Her strength gradually failed until she passed peacefully away after saying good-bye to the members of the family in attendance. She endured her last suffering patiently, trusting in her Savior. Her desire was to go to her heavenly home.Funeral services were held at the Geiger Church on Sunday, March 4, conducted at the house by Osias Cressman and at the church by Noah Stauffer in German and Norman Stauffer in English.

    Reist.--Moses Reist was born Jan. 18, 1834, in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died Feb. 12, 1911; aged 77 y. 24 d. His wife preceded him 36 years ago; also 3 sons. Leaves to mourn their loss, 5 daughters, 38 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers and a sister. Within the last 24 hours of his life he professed to have made peace with his God, and desired to be baptized. Bro. I A. Wambold administered the rite on the afternoon of Feb. 11, and the spirit took its flight early next morning. A wasted life. A God of mercy. He was buried on Feb. 14, at the Cresman cemetery near Breslau, Ont., services conducted by I. A. Wambold.
