    Henry Eby Died Today

    Henry Eby, 942 Queen street, well-known Preston resident, for the past 50 years, died at 5.15 this morning at the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital. In his 72nd., year, the late Mr. Eby had been ailing for a month and confined to hospital for the past nine days. During 50 years of residence in the community, the deceased has formed a large circle of friends. Born at Bridgeport, the late Mr. Eby resided at Guelph before coming to Preston 50 years ago and making his home here since that time. For 17 years the deceased owned and operated a butcher business on King street, Preston and for the past 20 years he had been employed in the tin shop at Clare Bros. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Eva Jane Baker; two daughters Mrs. Lorne Murphy (Norma) of Chula Vista, California and Mrs. Gordon Hinschberger (Joyce ) of 345 Waterloo street, Preston: two sons Stewart Eby 222 Guelph street and Neil Eby 530 Grand Valley Drive, Preston, two sisters, Mrs. Adam Triller and Mrs Jesse Harling both of Preston and three brothers, Edward of Chesley, Alton of Preston and Harold of Kitchener. Five grandchildren also survive. The late Mr. Eby is at the H. K. Stager Funeral Home, where the funeral will be held on Friday, at 2.30. Rev. James Dauphinee of St. Peter's Lutheran church will officiate. Interment will be in the Preston cemetery.

    PRESTON, Mrs. Eva Eby, 66, of Preston, died today after a lengthy illness, at the home of her son, Neil, of 530 Grand Valley Drive, where she had been living. Born at Listowel, she was the former Eva Baker. She lived in Preston for 40 years. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Preston. Her husband, Henry, predeceased her. Survivors include two sons, Stewart and Neil of Preston; two daughters, Mrs. Lorne (Norma) Murphy of Chula Vista, Calif., Mrs. Gordon (Joyce) Hinschberger of Kitchener; three brothers, Arthur of Toronto, Charles and Jack of Detroit, and seven grandchildren. The body will be at the Stager-Barthel Funeral Home, Preston, where the funeral will be conducted, Monday, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery. Rev. J. S. Dauphince, will officiate.

    Died at his home in Preston on Wesnesday, July 8, 1936, William H. Eby, beloved husband of Susan Gaeler, in his 74 year. The funeral will be held from his residence, 222 Guelph street, on Saturday, July 11, at 2: 30 p.m. Interment will take place in Preston Cemetery.

    Abraham Eby, "the sixth son of Bishop Benjamin Eby, was born on the old homestead, November 21st, 1823. On April 30th, 1843, he was married to Lucy Hembling who was born August 9th, 1822. Soon after their marriage they moved on a farm two and one-half miles east of Berlin. This farm is now owned by Henry Cressman. Here they resided for nearly five years, when they moved on another farm two and one-half miles north of the town of Waterloo where they lived for about five years, then they sold out and moved to the village of Bridgeport, where they resided until his death which took place August 21st, 1885. His widow still owns and occupies the old homestead. They had a family of eleven children"
