    GINGRICH, George H. -- On Friday, May 30, 1980, at K-W Hospital, after a brief illness, George Henry Gingrich, aged 76 years, of 2 Stahl Ave., Kitchener. Dear husband of the former Elsie White; father of Raymond, Roy and Mrs. Donald (Marion Brown), all of Kitchener, William (Bill) and Mrs. Elaine Himburg of Waterloo and Richard (Dick) of Ottawa; brother of Mrs. Edith Anstee and Mrs Margaret Barker, both of Hamilton; also survived by 28 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father, Abraham Gingrich and his mother the former Christina Haines. He was employed at B.F. Goodrich Canada Ltd., for 42 years until retiring in 1986[typing error]. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, after 2 p.m. Saturday. Funeral service in the Ratz-Bechtel chapel on Monday at 2 p.m., Rev. Bruce Seebach will conduct the service. Interment in Woodland cemetery.

    "George Henry Gingerich, legally changed his surname from Gingrich to Ging(e)rich in 1944 when his initial pay-cheque from BF Goodrich at King & Victoria St in Kitchener was issued with the e added. As a new employee he did not want to ask the company to re-issue the cheque thinking they would let him go so he walked down to the county courthouse to have it changed."
