    Bast, Solomon, son of George and Annie (Schrag) Bast, was born at Wellesley, Ont., Jan. 14, 1894; died at Wellesley, Ont. Jan. 15, 1974; aged 80 y. 1 d. His wife, whom he married on June 5, 1917, preceded him in death in 1964. Surviving are one son (Delton), 3 daughters (Eileen-Mrs. Gordon Hallman, Laurene-Mrs. Stanley Zehr, and Janet, Mrs. Kenneth Davidson), and one brother (Simon). He was a member of the Zion Mennonite Church. Funeral services were held at Mapleview Mennonite Church, in charge of Henry Yantzi and Alvin Leis; interment in the adjoining cemetery.

    Rev. Soloman Bast, 80, of Wellesley died suddenly at his home Tuesday, January 15, 1974. Born in Wellesley, Jan. 14, 1894, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Bast. Mr. Bast was lay minister at Zion Mennonite Church in Wellesley. He also worked for the Kitchener Lumber Co., retiring in 1965. His wife, the former Emma Schmidt, died in 1964. Mr. Bast is survived by a son, Delton, of Kitchener; daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Eileen) Hallman and Mrs. Stanley (Laurene) Zehr, both of Kitchener, Mrs. Kenneth (Janet) Davidson of Plattsville; a brother, Simon, of Cambridge; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, six brothers and a sister. The body rested at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home, Wellesley until noon Friday when removal was made to Maple View Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 2: 30 p.m. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

    George E. Bast of Wellesley was found dead in his bed Friday morning, having suffered a heart attack during the night. Mr. Bast, a retired farmer, was in his 75th year. He was born in Wellesley township, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Bast, Sr., German immigrants. He was a member of Maple View Amish Men- nonite Church. His wife, nee Annie Schrag, passed away ten years ago. Surviving are his stepmother, Mrs. G. Bast, Wellesley, six sons, George of Wellesley, Solomon in Wilmot, Aaron at Bridgeport, Moses in Waterloo Simon of Baden, and William at home, together with 17 grandchildren, six brothers and six sisters.

    The funeral was held Sunday.

The Funeral Will be held from his late residence, Wellesley, on Sunday, December 13th, at 1 o'clock p.m., and proceed to the Maple View Amish Mennonite Church, Third Line, Wellesley, where services will be held.     Bast.-Anna Schrag was born in South Easthope March 20, 1860; died June 20, 1926; aged 66 y. 3 m. She united with the A. M. Church in her youth and remained a faithful member to her end and always attended church services when ever possible. Feb. 14, 1887 she was united in marriage to George E. Bast. To this union were born 10 children of whom 4 preceded her. She leaves her deeply bereaved husband, 6 sons, 6 grandchildren, and 4 sisters. Funeral services were held June 23rd at the 3rd Line A. M. church near Wellesley, Ont.

    LICHTI - Catherine LICHTI (nee JANTZI) was born in Waterloo Co., Ont., Feb. 21, 1836; died July 30, 1923; aged 87y. 5m. 9d. On Oct. 5, 1858, she was married to Joseph B. LICHTI, living in matrimony over 23 years and in widowhood almost 42 years. She leaves to mourn her loss 4 sons, 5 daughters, 48 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren. One son (Rudy) died in 1912, and 1 daughter in infancy. She is also survived by 1 brother (Chr. JANTZI), 1 half brother (David RISSER in Nebraska), and 2 half sisters, Mrs. Chr. BRUNK and Mrs. Annie BRUNK in Ontario. She always was in good health until this spring when she had an attack of broncho-pneumonia which returned again in June and left her too weak to recover. She was eagerly waiting to be taken home. She united with the Amish Mennonite Church when a young girl and remained faithful until death. Her Bible was her main pastime in her old age. Service at house was conducted by D. Lebold and at Wellesley A.M. Church by C.S. Zehr, Chr. Gascho, and J.R. Bender. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
