    SCHIEDEL, George Allen 1922 - 2011 George passed away peacefully at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Mary Hunsberger Schiedel. Dear father of Fred (Charlene), Phil (Annette), John (Dianna) and Andrew (Karen). Grandfather of Christine Schiedel, Allen Schiedel (Brienna), Tyler Schiedel (Bethany), Marianne Nameth (Scott), Cassandra Schiedel, Zachary Schiedel, Jodi Schiedel, Matthew Schiedel, Seth Schiedel, Ben Schiedel, and Caleb Schiedel. Great-grandfather of Rome Schiedel. Dear brother of Ed Schiedel (Ruth) and brother-in-law of Almeda Schiedel, Enos Hunsberger (Ruth), Elsie Shantz (Glen), Erma Stutzman (John), Catherine Hunsberger, Ken Hunsberger, Doras Stevanus, Paul Stevanus, Grace Shantz (Mervin), Clifford Snider (Vivian), Richard Stevanus (Dianne). George will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife, Mary Stevanus; parents, Allen Schiedel, Saloma Horst, and Laura Good; brothers, Vernus (Lulu) and Irvine Schiedel; and sister, Helen Markle (Mel). George was founder and manager of Schiedel Construction in Cambridge for over 50 years. He was a respected member and benefactor of the Mennonite Church and broader community. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of George during visitation at Waterloo North Mennonite Church, 100 Benjamin Rd. (at Weber St. N.), Waterloo on Thursday, August 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Viewing will be available on Friday, August 19 from 10 - 10: 45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at the church at 11 a.m. Pastor Ardith Frey and Pastor Matthew Isert Bender officiating. Following lunch at the church, interment will be made at Wanner Mennonite Church Cemetery, 1725 Beaverdale Rd. (at Maple Grove Rd.), Cambridge at approximately 3 p.m. The family appreciates the considerate care provided for George and would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Parkwood Mennonite Home, and other caregivers over the past few years.     SCHIEDEL, Allen

    At Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 1, 1985, Allen Schiedel, of 515 Langs Drive, Cambridge, in his 96th year. Beloved husband of Laura (Good) Schiedel and the late Salome Horst (1950); dear father of Vernice, Edward and Mrs. Helen Markle, all of Cambridge, George of Elmira and Irvine of Stratford. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. The late Mr. Schiedel, was born in Kossuth, Ont., November 5, 1889 and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Resting at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Blvd., Cambridge, where the family will receive friends today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 4, at 2.30 p.m., in the Wanner Mennonite Church, Cambridge. Interment Wanner cemetery.

    Schiedel.-Mary, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hefky, was born in Waterloo Twp., Ont., May 26, 1859; died at Galt, Ont., Hospital, after a lengthy illness, April 10, 1949; age 89 y. 10 m. 14 d. The immediate cause of her death was a fall in her home a few days previous. Her husband (Menno Schiedel) passed away seventeen years ago. Two sons (Lanson and John) also predeceased her. Surviving are one son (Allen Kossuth, Ont.), one daughter (Ida-Mrs. Jacob Randall, Kossuth), 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one brother (John C., Drayton, Ont.) Sixty-four years ago she was converted; she united with the Cressman Mennonite congregation, Breslau, Ont., remaining faithful through a long pilgrimage. She was the oldest member of the congregation, both in age and length of membership. She was ever ready to tell the story of her conversion, and her last testimony was one of determination to hold on to the end of the journey. Funeral services were held on April 13 at the Cressman Church, in charge of J. W. Witmer and Oscar Burkholder. Text: Job 19: 25.
