ELI B. GINGRICH

Eli B. Gingrich, 59, died suddenly Tuesday October 22 at his home on RR 2, Wallenstein.

A son of the late Moses and Magdalena Gingrich, Mr. Gingrich was born in Peel Township Feb. 6, 1898. His first wife, the former Ida Shantz, whom he married in 1922, predeceased him in February of 1951. In December of the next year he married Mrs. Barbara Snyder of St. Jacobs, who survives.

Mr. Gingrich was a farmer and member of Floradale Mennonite Church.

Surviving besides his wife are five daughters, Mrs. Clayton (Olive) Shantz of Elora, Wilma of Elmira, Mrs. Vernon (Eileen) Martin off RR 1, Elmira, Doris of Goshen, Ind., and Mrs. Harold (Fern) Metzger of RR 2, Wallenstein; three stepsons, Wayne Snyder of Bridgeport, Melvin of St. Jacobs, Leighton of Akron, N.Y.; three brothers, Oziah and Nelson of Elmira, Amos of Waterloo; a sister, Mrs. Henry Brubacher of Elmira, and 22 grandchildren. Mr. Gingrich was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

The body body [repeated] rested at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Friday noon when removal was made to Floradale Mennonite Church for service at 3 p.m. Rev. Rufus Jut& and Bishop Roy Koch officiated. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Moses Gingerich

On Tuesday of this week death removed one of this district's oldest and most valued residents in the person of Moses Gingerich, whose demise was caused through a hardening of the arteries. He had been ill for sometime, and passed away at the home of his on Eli on the Fourth Line of Peel. He was born in Woolwich township on the Henry Gingrich farm, situated below Elmira, and was a lifelong member of the Mennonite church. Forty-five years ago, he was married to Mollie Hallman. After living for five years on the farm now occupied by Ephraim Martin, Mr. Gingerich moved to the homestead on which he resided until the time of his death. He is survived by his widow, four sons, Orias of Guernsey, Sask., Amos of near Waterloo; Nelson, near Elmira and Eli on the homestead, and three daughters, Mrs. Seranus Martin, of Floradale; Mr. A. Martin of Peel township and Mrs. Edwin Snyder of Waterloo.

The funeral takes place this (Thurs-day) afternoon from his late home to the Menonnite burying grounds of Upper Woolwich.

On October 26th, 1884, she married Moses M., son of Moses and Susannah (Martin) Gingerich. They reside on a farm in the township of Peel, County of Wellington. Gingrich-Magdalena (Mollie) Bauman Gingrich was born in Waterloo Co.,. Ont,. Sept 18, 1856; died April 16, 1944; aged 87 y. 6 m. 29 d. She had been in failing health since January, gradually growing weaker until she passed away peacefully at the home of their daughter, Mrs. .Seranus Martin, Floradale. She was married Oct. 29, 1876 to Henry Shantz and moved to Marybourough Twp.,. where they lived until he died Aug 12, 1879. Two children were born to the union. On Oct 26, 1884 she was united in marriage to Moses Gingrich and moved to Peel Twp.,. where they resided until he died June 23, 1931. Eight children were born to the union. She continued to make her home with her son Eli on the old homestead until 2 1/2 years ago, when she made her home with her daughter. She leaves to mourn her departure 9 children; Hannah ( Mrs., Henry Brubacher) Elmire; Henry Cyrenius Shantz, Guernsey, Sask.; Rebekah ( Mrs. Ananias Martin) Peel Twp.; Blandina ( Mrs. Seranus Martin Floradale; Leah .( Mrs. Edwin Snyder) Waterloo Twp.; Ozias, Elmira; Amos, Waterloo Twp.; Eli on the old homestead. Also surviving are one sister ( Mrs. David Martin) 57 grandchildren, and 46 great grandchildren. One son, Urias, predeceased her 32 years ago. Funeral services were held April 19, at the North Woolwich Mennonite Church of which she was a member, in charge of Bishop Amsey Martin, assisted by Bro. George Brubacher.

The Funeral Will be held at her late home on Tuesday, October 29^th, 1929, at 1 o'clock p. m., thence to Martin's Church and Cemetery for service and burial. After the decease of his first wife he was married to Susannah B., daughter of John S. and Elizabeth (Burkhard) Brubacher. She was born May 4th, 1837, and they were married on December 6th, 1864. Bauman.-In Waterloo, Co., Ont., Mrs. Eli Bauman, aged 90 y. 2 m. 27 d., her beloved companion preceding her four years ago. To this union were born 12 children (8 surviving), 69 grandchildren (51 surviving), 144 great-grandchildren (126 surviving), 2 great-great-grandchildren (both surviving).This family is spread all over Canada and the United States. Both were faithful members in the old order Mennonite Church. May we as their family seek to spread the name of Jesus wherever we are. One of the Grandchildren.
