    William S. Kesselring

    William S. Kesselring 76 of 271 King St. South Waterloo, died Friday at K.W. Hospital after a brief illness. He farmed in Waterloo Township for many years. Kesselring was born Jan. 12, 1882 in Waterloo Township, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Kesselring. He was a member of Bethany United Missionary Church. Surviving are his wife and one son, Robert of Hespeler: two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Ruby) Turner of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Mrs. Leonard (Elsie) Hearth of Kitchener; two brothers, Harvey of Waterloo. and Wilfrid of Kitchener: seven. sisters, Mrs. Mary Reinhardt of Southampton, Mrs. I. S. Rudy 61 Yorkton, Sask., Mrs. William Magwood of Winnipeg, Mrs. Anne Jasper and Mrs. Russell Graham both of Hartnye Man., Mrs. Edward Fetter of Simcoe and Mrs. Vera Bailie of Port Elgin, and seven grandchildren. The body will be at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until Monday noon, then at Bethany Church where friends may pay their respects until time of the service. The funeral will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. by Rev. L. K. Rider of Bethany Church. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.

    Mrs. Lydia Kesselring

    Mrs. Lydia Kesselring, Fountain St., Preston, died early today at the K-W Hospital following a lengthy illness. Deceased was born in Wallace Township June 9, 1878, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Bowman. She was a member of Bethany Mennonite Church. Mrs. Kesselring is survived by her husband, William Kesselring, one son, Robert, of Preston; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Elsie) Hearth, Mrs. Ruby Tomlinson, city; two brothers, Moses and Wesley Bowman, Vancouver, B.C. and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Remington, Hespeter and Miss Ellen Bowman, Preston. Three grandchildren also survive her. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Bethany Mennonite Church followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery. Rev, P. G. Lehman and Rev. C. N. Good will conduct the services. The body is resting at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 1: 30 p.m. Sunday when removal will be made to the church for the services.

    DANIEL C. KESSELRING

    Daniel C. Kesselring, RR. 4. Kitchener, Petersburg road, died early this morning after a lingering illness, Mr. Kesselring died on the farm on which he was born. He had resided on the same farm for the 83 years which his life spanned. He was well known in the community.

    He in survived by his wife, three sons, Williain of Preston, Harvey of Freeport, Wilfred D. Kesselring at home, and nine daughters, Mrs. H. Schwass, Port Elgin, Mr. J. 11. Reinhardt, Southampton. Mrs. Barbara Sparrow, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. H. Rudy, Brodenbury, Bask., Mrs. W. D. Magwood, Winnipeg, Mrs. Chan. Jasper. Hartney, Man, Mrs. Clara Voegtle, Kitchener, Mrs. R. J. Graham, Hartney, Man, Mrs. J. A Hallie, Detroit One sister, Mrs. Christina Weber of St. Jacobs, also survives.

    The remains will rest at the Let ter and Dreisinger Funeral Chapel until 10 am tomorrow when they wil ho taken to the home on Petersburg road, from where private funeral services will be held Monday at 130, thence to Emmanual Evangelical church, Waterloo for public service at 230 Interment will be made Mennonite Cemetery at Waterloo.

    Drowned in Mill Pond.

    St. Jacob's, Ont.. June 12-David Bowman, aged about 65, a resident of Berlin, was visiting at his sister's, Mrs. Filsinger, on Sunday, June 2. He disappeared the following morning, and this morning his body was found floating in E. W. B. Snider's mill dam.

On December 12th, 1856, he was again married to Maria Shants who was born June 17th, 1827, and died December 23rd, 1885. At present Mr. Shantz resides in the town of Berlin where he is living retired. His family consisted of ten children, three of whom were born unto his first wife."

He was married October 12th, 1830, to Lydia, daughter of Jacob and Salome (Graybill) Erb. She was born November 12th, 1809, and died November 12th, 1877. He died November 25th, 1881. They resided at St. Jacobs, on the farm now possessed by their son-in-law, Jacob Filsinger. During their old age they lived on a small place about one mile north of St. Jacobs where they died. Their family consisted of ten children,"

    In 1848 when Heinrich came to Waterloo Region he established an inn at 525 King St. E., Kitchener, Ontario. Later he moved to Wilmot and ran a inn there. Dying young he left a large family. His widow married Moses Biehn who raised Heinrich's children as he own.

    Historic Building:
    Built in 1850, a frame building it was originally used as a store. In 1978 it was listed in poor condition and much altered from the original. At that time is was covered in insul-brick.
