    Feb 15, 1885

Dear Brother and Sister and Family:

I write you these few lines to let you know that we are all well at present hoping this will find you all well. I have no news to rite it has been very cold here we have had no thaw since the first of January. Bell says she is well and she hopes you are well and doing well and you must send her word how Andrew and Sammies(?) is but I guess she knows how Jenkins is. James Nichols will cut them all out if they don't mind. They had a great fire in Caledonia last Friday night the end of the bridge and all William Brown's block is burned up till Ropers. 14 houses burned some say 16 they say that it started from an ash pile someone put out with fire in them.

Clover seed is cheap this year $6,25 cts red is 470 cts and it turned out very thick(?) And there was so much white clover seed that it spoiled the sale of it. They say 100 and 80 dollar s for some old store over there beside Caddles school house. He won't give that for a house over their he thinks he had better rent a house first to see how they get along. Have not had one word from Andrew this while we heard he was to have his sale 5th of this month have not heard anything since. We expect a calf one of these nights or day. Butter is 16 cts only eggs 20, wheat 80, potatoes 25, apples 20 a bushel, dried apples a dollar per bushe l. Now I will stop tonight they are all in bed but me and Jane. I hear Sarah has got another son I ought to write t o them to but their turn will be next. There has been 5 letters wrote he e today and this is the only one I wrote I hope you won't take so long to answer this as I have done. But I knowed when father and mother got the news that you would get it too. Goodbye tonight may be I may think of something more in the morning.
