    HALLMAN, Stanley William - Second World War Active Service No. A76008, peacefully, at his home, on May 8, 2001, in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Marjorie (2000). Loving father of Phill (Linda) of New Brunswick and Greg (Diane) of St. Clements; special Grandpa to Carey, Scott and Katrina (Shane Adam) and great-grandpa to Spence Adam; fondly remembered by sister, Jean Strasser (John) of Toronto and sister-in-law, Hollis Manske of Goderich. Predeceased by his parents, William and Mollie (Sutter) Hallman and his wonderful foster parents, Mr. & Mrs. James Lockie. Stan was a true friend and will be forever remembered by his family and many friends. Until recently, he was an active and faithful member of Knox Presbyterian Church, serving on the Board of Managers and Session. He was a member of K-W Gyro and Senior Gyro Clubs, Westmount golf and Country Club and past member of the Waterloo Club Ltd. He was the president and co-founder of Imperial Plywood's Ltd. Stan volunteered for active service and served for many years with the Scots Fusiliers of Canada. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Stan's life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, 50 Erb St. W., Waterloo on Sunday, May 27, 2001 at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Walter McLean and the Rev. Brooke and Rev. Linda Ashfield officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the church hall. Family committal will take place May 28, 2001.

Marj will be sadly missed but always in the heart of Stanley Hallman, her beloved husband of 57 years.     He helped to build the B.F. Goodrich plant on King Street West and was one of the employees retiring in 1958, a member of the hockey team, winners of the Alan Cup in 1918; involved in Twin City baseball for many years and served in the Army Overseas in the First World War.

    Husband of the late Gertrude Plate (December 1982). Survived by daughter, Marjorie and husband Stanley Hallman of Waterloo; son, Bill and wife Hollis Manske of Brucefield, Ont.; six grandsons; seven great-grandchildren.

    Predeceased by his parents; sisters, Mary Kern, Ann Weseloh and brother, Otto.

    A family funeral service took place today at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo, with Rev. Thomas Lurvey of St. Peter's Lutheran church officiating. Flowers gratefully declined.

    HENRY PLATE - Henry Plate, 36 Bruder Ave., died yesterday at the K-W Hospital. He was 68, born in Bridgeport on Oct. 23, 1876. Mr. Plate was an employee of the H.A. Lippert Furniture Co., for many years. His wife, nee Catherine Fries, died in 1931.

    Surviving are two sons, Edgar and Harvey of Kitchener; five daughters: Mrs. William Manske, Mrs. Abner Schwartzentruber, Mrs. Eli Pitts, and Mrs. Albin Wilinsky of Kitchener and Mrs. Edward Metler of Toronto; one brother William of Hespeler; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Gottleib, Miss Margaret plate, and Miss Mary Plate of Detroit, Mich., and 21 grandchildren. Two sons, Walter and Gordon predeceased him in 1912 and 1933, respectively.

    Service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral He, where the remains are resting. Burial will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery, with Rev. A.W. Lotz, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, officiating.

    MRS. HENRY PLATE - The death occurred at the family residence, 54 Willow street, city, at 6: 15 o'clock Sunday of Mrs. Kathrine Plate, wife of Mr. Henry Plate, aged 53 years, six months and 13 days. The deceased was born in Woolwich township on February 23, 1878. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church. She is survived by her husband and by the following children, Edgar Plate, Centreville, Harvey Plate and Gordon Plate at home, Mrs. William Manske, Kitchener, Mrs. A. Schwartzentruber, Kitchener, Miss Elsie Plate, Miss Dorothy Plate and Miss Veronica Plate at home. One son predeceased her 19 years ago. There are six grandchildren surviving. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters, Messrs. Daniel and Michael Fries of Kitchener, Jacob Fries, Elmira and John Fries of Pakenham and Mrs. Henry Dobbentheim, Cline Iowa, Mrs. Wm. Dobbentheim, Elora, Mrs. L. Snider and Mrs. A. Vulcher, Elmira and Mrs. Arthur Rhodes, Kitchener. The funeral will take place at 2: 40 o'clock tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon from the family residence, 54 Willow street, with Rev. Dr. H. A. Sperling in charge. Interment will be made in Mount Hope cemetery.
