    Notes:

    POOLE, Lloyd-Suddenly on Thursday, May 15, 1997, at the Stratford General Hospital, Lloyd Poole, of Millbank. Born in Mornington township, 60 years ago, son of the late William Poole and the late Fannie Zehr.

    Lloyd was a lifelong member of Maple View Mennonite, where he served on various committees. He farmed at Poole, retiring in 1984. At the time of his death, he and his wife were custodians at Mornington Central Public School.

    Beloved husband of Madalena (Ropp) Poole, of Millbank. Loving father of Ronald and his wife Brenda Poole of RR 1, Milverton, Robert and his wife Brenda Poole of Kitchener, James and his wife Wanda Poole of Waterloo, Paul and his wife Kim Poole of Wellesley, Steven Poole of Millbank and Diane Poole of Millbank. Dear brother of Clarence and his wife Ethel Poole of RR 1, Milverton, Edna and her husband Emmerson Ropp of Tavistock, Eileen and her husband Robert Eickmeyer of RR 2, Mitchell. Lovingly remembered by nine grandchildren.
    Predeceased by a daughter in 1996; by a brother, Ivan Poole and a sister, Violet Lichti.

    Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St. W. in Wellesley, on Saturday, May 17, 1997 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Sunday, removal will be made to Maple View Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Pastor James Whitehead will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

    Memorials to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy for the late Lloyd Poole.

    Poole.- William, son of George and Mary (Spenler) Poole, was born in Mornington Twp., Ont., Mar. 12, 1905; died suddenly at the home of his brother, Feb. 25, 1977; aged 71 y. On Nov. 22, 1927, he was married to Fanny Zehr, who preceded him in death on June 4, 1970. Surviving is his stepmother (Mrs. Leah Poole), 2 sons (Clarence and Lloyd), 2 daughters (Edna-Mrs. Emmerson Ropp, and Eileen-Mrs. Robert Eickmeyer), 20 grandchildrem, 4 brothers (Norman, John, Roy, and Lorne), and 2 sisters (Clara-Mrs. Gordon Schultz, and Emma-Mrs. Elroy Schultz). He was preceded in death by one son (Ivan), one daughter (Violet-Mrs. Wayne Lichty), and one grandchild. He was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Feb. 28, in charge of Alvin Leis and Jacob Roes; interment in the adjoining cemetery.

    -Of Poole, passed away suddenly, Friday, Feb. 25 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Poole, of Route 1, Milverton.

    Born in Mornington Township, 71 years ago, a son of the late George Poole and the late Mary Spendler. Had farmed in Poole, retiring in 1964, a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church. Beloved stepson of Mrs. George Leah Poole, of Route 1, Milverton; dear father of Clarence of Route 1, Milverton, Lloyd of Poole, Edna (Mrs. Emerson Ropp) of Route 1, Tavistock, Eileen (Mrs. Robert Eickmeyer) of Route 2, Mitchell; dear brother of Norman of Milverton, John and Lorne, both of Route 1, Milverton, and Roy of Poole, Clara (Mrs. Gordon Schultz) of Brunner, and Emma (Mrs. Elroy Schultz) of Millbank. Also survived by 20 grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife, the former Fannie Zehr, June 4, 1970, also by one son, Ivan, 1950, and one daughter, Violet, in 1970, also by one grandchild.

    Friends may call at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home, Wellesley, where the family will receive friends this evening from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. At noon Monday, Feb. 28, the remains will be removed to the Maple View Mennonite Church, for the service at 2:30. Rev. Alvin Leis and Rev. Jacob Roes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

    Expressions of sympathy may be shown by contributions to the Ontario Heart Foundation, or the Western Ontario Mennonite Mission Board.

    POOLE-George Joseph Poole RR 1, Milverton, died early this morning at his home after a brief illness. He was 87.
    He was born in Birmingham, England, March 20, 1880. He was a member of the Maple View Mennonite Church, Wellesley. Mr. Poole had farmed in Mornington township before retiring in 1947.

    His first wife, the former Mary Spenler died Aug. 1, 1938.

    Surviving are his second wife, the former Leah Kropf, whom he married Feb. 5, 1941 in Baden; five sons, William and Roy both of Poole, Norman, John and Lorne all of RR 1 Milverton; two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Clara) Schultz, Brunner and Mrs. Elroy (Emma) Schultz, RR 1, Millbank; 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

    He was predeceased by one step-son, Ervin Ropp.

    The body is at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home, Wellesley, until noon Wednesday when removal will be made to the Mapleview Mennonite Church for service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining Church cemetery.

He united with the Amish Mennonite Church in his youth. He was married to Elisabeth Steinman, Mar. 18, 1879, who preceded him in death 5 years ago. He leaves to mourn his departure 2 sons and 8 daughters (Christian, Woodriver, Nebr.; Katie, widow of Jacob Bast, Wellesley, Ont.; Mary, wife of Geo.     Spenler.-Elizabeth (Steinman) Spenler, dau. of Christian and Mary Steinman, was born near Baden, Ont., Aug. 19, 1860; died Nov. 9, 1929; aged 69 y. 2 m. 17 d. Her death came very unexpectedly, the cause of which was heart failure. She passed away peacefully a short time after retiring as usual. The only notice given was a few short gasps for breath. In youth she accepted Christ as her Savior and was received into the Amish Mennonite Church. She remained a faithful member until death. On March 19, 1879, she was united in marriage to Pre. Peter Spenler. She leaves her husband, 2 sons, 8 daughters (Christian, Katie Bast, Mary Poole, Lizzie Beachy, Fanny Yutzi, Peter, Barbara Beachy, Leah Beller, Lydia, and Bena), 34 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild. Two sons and one daughter preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the home by John Garber and at the Mornington A. M. church by John Gascho and Jacob Leichty. Texts, 1 Cor. 12; 11 Cor. 5; Jno. 5: 24-30. Interment in adjoining cemetery.
