    LEIS, Clarence E. - Suddenly, on Thursday, January 12, 2006, at Nith View Home, in New Hamburg. Mr. Leis was formerly of Kingwood (RR 2, Wellesley). Clarence was born in Wellesley Twp. 86 years ago. Son of the late Samuel E. Leis and the late Elizabeth Schultz. Clarence was a member of Faith Mennonite Church. He farmed at RR 2, Wellesley (Kingwood) retiring in 1994. Loving father of Glenn and his wife Audrey Leis of RR 2, Wellesley, Galen and his wife Fern Leis of RR 2, Tavistock, Kevin and his wife Delores Leis of RR 1, Newton, Elaine and her husband Earl Leis of RR 1, Wellesley, and Marilyn and her husband James Cressman of RR 1, St. Agatha. Lovingly remembered by 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Doreen Gerber of Brunner, Wesley and Eleanor Gerber of RR 3, Harriston, Morris and Joyce Gerber of Milverton and Dorothy Bender of New Hamburg. Predeceased by his wife, Alic E. Leis (1997) and by a brother-in-law, Willis Bender. Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 1172 Henry St. in Wellesley, where family and friends will be received tonight (Friday) from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2006 at Maple View Mennonite Church at 2.30 p.m. Pastors Paul Yantzi and Larry Jantzi will officiate. Burial will follow in the Maple View Mennonite Cemetery. Memorials to Northern Youth Programs, Mennonite Central Committee or to the Parkinson Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

    LEIS Mrs. Clarence (Alice) Peacefully on Friday, August 8, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital, in Kitchener, Alice Elizabeth Leis of Baden and formerly of Kingwood. Born in West Branch, Michigan, 74 years ago. Daughter of the late Mose Gerber and the late Rachel Jantzi. Alice was a faithful member of Faith Mennonite Church, where she was axtive as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of the sewing circle. Loving wife of Clarence Leis of Baden, whom she married October 18, 1944. Dear mother of Elaine and her husband Earl Leis of RR 1, Wellesley, Marilyn and her husband James Cressman of RR 1, Wellesley. Glenn and his wife Audrey Leis of RR 2. Wellesley, Galen and his wife Fern Leis of RR 1, Tavistock, Kevin and his wife Delores Leis of Brunner. Lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren; beloved sister of Dorothy and her husband Willia Bender of New Hamburg, Donald and his wife Doreen Gerber of Brunner, Wesley and his wife Eleanor Gerber of RR 3, Harriston, Morris and his wife Joyce Gerber of Milverton. Predeceased by three sisters, Marion Schwartzentruber, Kathleen Gerber, Esther Gerber and by a brother-in-law, Irvin Schwartzentruber; also her father and mother-in-law, Samuel and Elizabeth Leis. Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St. W.,in Wellesley, today (Monday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. At noon on Thursday removal will be made to the Maple View Mennonite Church for service at 2 p.m., Pastor Roger Zehr will officiate. Burial will follow in the Maple View Mennonite Cemetery.

    Leis, Samuel E., son of Daniel and Magdalene (Erb) Leis, was born in Wellesley Twp., Ont., Oct. 30, 1891; died at his home near Kingwood, Jan. 23, 1963; aged 71 y. 2 m. 24 d. On Feb. 1, 1917, he was married to Elizabeth Schultz, who survives. Also surviving are one son (Clarence), 4 grandchildren, 3 brothers and one sister (Christian, Peter, Ezra and Sarah-Mrs. Aaron W. Jantzi). On June 5, 1938, he was ordained as minister at Maple View A.M. Church, and served at Maple View and also at Crosshill. He also served on the Winter Bible School Board of the Ontario A.M. Conference, 1941-54, and took an active part in the teaching program of the summer Bible school. He served as a member of the executive com-mittee and was treasurer of the Ontario A.M. Conference for many years. Funeral services were held at the Maple View Church, Jan. 26, in charge of Christ Streicher, Elmer Swartzentruber, and Alvin Leis.

    Passed away Friday, May 1, 1981, at her home, RR 2, Wellesley (Kingwood), Elizabeth S. Leis, of Kingwood. She was a daughter of the late John S. Schultz and Barbara Schultz. Elizabeth was born in Wellesley Township 91 years ago. She was a lifelong member of the Maple View Mennonite Church. Beloved mother of Clarence of RR 2, Wellesley. Also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Samuel E. Leis, January 3, 1963; also by three brothers and four sisters. Visitation was at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, Wellesley. At noon on Sunday, May 3, transfer was made to the Maple View Mennonite Church for the funeral service at 2: 30 pm with Rev. Alvin Leis and Rev. Jacob Roes officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

    WELLESLEY.\emdash Ill for the past three years, Daniel K. Leis, 76, died at his home here Thursday. Deceased was born in Wellesley township in 1803. He was a member of the third line Maple View Amish Mennonite church. Surviving are his wife, four sons, Christian of Tavistock, Samuel and Peter of Kingwood, Ezra of Wellesley, one daughter, Mrs. Aaron Jantzi of Wellesley, three brothers, Menno of Wilmot, Jacob of Wellesley and Solomon of Baden, 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The funeral was held on Sunday.

To this union were born 3 sons and 5 daughters. One son (Solomon) died in 1895 and Mattie (Mrs. Michael Wagler) died in 1934. There survive her 2 sons (John and Noah) and 4 daughters (Katie -- Mrs. C. S. Kennel, Barbara --Mrs. David Lichti, Mary -- Mrs. Sam Bast, and Lizzie -- Mrs. Sam E. Leis, with whom she had made her home the last 10 years); also 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She united with the A. M. Church in Wilmot Twp. in her youth, later moving to Wellesley Twp., where she was buried. Services were conducted at the home by Peter Boshart and at the Maple View A. M. Church by Peter Nafziger, J. R. Bender and Dan Lebold. Burial in adjoining cemetery.
