    GERBER, Esther (nee Ropp) - Peacefully, at Nithview Home in New Hamburg, surrounded by family, on Friday, September 18, 2009, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Gerber (1995). Loving mother of Ron and his wife Marie of Wellesley, Vernon and his wife Elaine of New Hamburg, and Eileen and her husband Earl Steinmann of Wellesley. Dear grandmother of Patty, Krista, Bonnie, Connie, Terry, Shane, Holly and eight great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her sisters, Adeline (Elmer Erb), Barbara (Joe Kennel); her brother, Elmer Ropp; sister-in-law, Annie Ropp; and brother-in-law, Milton Roth. Predeceased by her parents, John and Emma (nee Roes); her sister, Clara Roth; and brothers, Emanuel, Daniel, Samuel in infancy; sisters-inlaw, Edna Ropp and Mary Ropp. The family received friends at the Futher- Franklin Funeral Home, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church, Wellesley, today (Monday) at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in the Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Masters International Ministries or the C.N.I.B. would be appreciated.

    ROPP, Emma - Mrs. John Ropp, 86, of 184 Queen St. E., Wellesley, died Tuesday at the Milverton Nursing Home. Born in Ellice Township, Oct. 28, 1894, she was the former Emma Roes, a daughter of the late John Roes and former Mary Nafziger. She was a member of the Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. Surviving are her husband, John of Wellesley; two sons, Emanuel, of RR 1, Wellesley, and Elmer of RR 1, Brunner; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Esther) Gerber, of Wellesley, Mrs. Milton (Clara) Roth, of Toronto, Mrs. Elmer (Adeline) Erb, of Millbank, and Mrs. Joseph (Barbara) Kennell, of Waterloo; two brothers, Noah, of Brunner, and Samuel, of Poole; one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Annie) Gerber of 45 Buckingham Dr., Stratford; 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, Daniel, in 1963, and one brother. Friends were received at the Futher Brothers Funeral Home, Wellesley until noon Friday when a funeral service was held at 1 pm at Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church. Bishop Arthur Gerber officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

    WELLESLEY - Daniel L. Ropp, 82, of the third line of Wellesley Township died at his home today after two weeks illness. Born in Mornington Township, Aug. 8, 1870, he was a son of the late Joseph Ropp and Magdalena Lichti. Mr. Ropp farmed in Wellesley Township until he retired in 1927. He was a member of Cedar Grove Amish Mennonite Church, third line of Wellesley. Surviving are his widow, the former Bena Roth; two sons, John of Crosshill and Amos, RR 2, Wellesley and Mrs. David (Barbara) Gerber, Nithburg; one brother, John of New Hamburg, 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One son predeceased him. The body is at the home where the funeral will be held Sunday at 1: 30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at Cedar Grove Church at 2: 15 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Rev. Samuel Lichti officiating.
