    Passed away unexpectedly while on vacation with her family in Antigua. Loving and cherished mother of Linda (John) Marschall, Valerie (Tim) Kumornik and John (Christine) Luft. Beloved grandmother of Christopher (Pauline), Andrea (Randy), Scott (Sarah), Jennifer, Kyle, Jessica, Ryan and Emily and great grandmother to Tyler, Brooklyn, Liam, Piper, Callie, Brooks and Max. Predeceased by her husband Walter (2013) and by her daughter Karen (2014).

    Joy is survived by her siblings Joanne Smiley, Art Stevens (Elaine), Norma Nagy, Ronald Stevens (Judy), Debbie Stevens, Earl Stevens, Cheryl Stevens and Wendy Etmanski (John). She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and will be sadly missed by her beloved dog Keon.

    Joy is also predeceased by her parents, Arthur (1977) and Nina Stevens (1980), her sister Barbara (2008) and brothers-in-law Garry (2010) and Doug (2011).

    Joy had an abundant love of family and travel and held a special place in her heart for music, where she was a participating member of the Sweet Adelines organization of women singers and for the Toronto Maple Leafs, where she spent many nights in front of the television cheering them on.

    Joy's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday November 27, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Henry Walser Funeral Home 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, (519) 749-8467. Joy's funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday November 28, 2018 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 248 Highland Rd E, Kitchener. A reception will follow. Interment at a later date in Woodland Cemetery.

Predeceased by her parents and her husband, Arthur in 1977.     Mrs. Marie Luft, 95. of 39 Barclay St.. died Saturday in K-W Hospital after a 14-year illness.

    Born in Germany, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Andres. She came to Kitchener in 1889 and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

    Her husband, Philip Luft, died in 1943.

    Surviving are three sons. Rev. Theodore Luft, Emil and Herman, all of Kitchener; four daughters, Dora at home, and Mrs. Albert (Ella) Riedel, Mrs Oliver (Lydia) Bald and Mrs John (Paula) Draves, all of Kit chener: 22 grandchildren, 36 one great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild. Two daughters predeceased her.

    The body is at the Gruhn Funeral Home until Tuesday noon when removal will be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church for service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev Arthur Eissfeldt will officiate.

    John H. Doerr

    After a brief illness, John H. Doerr, 83, of 20 John St. West, Waterloo, died Tuesday at K-W Hospital. Born Jan. 9, 1878, in Wilmot Township, Mr. Doerr was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Doerr. He lived in the Twin Cities most of his life and worked as a salesman for Dare's Ltd. for more than 40 years. He retired in 1941. Mr. Doerr was a member of Alma Street United Brethern Church. His wife, the former Emily Isabelle Ewen, predeceased him in April of 1958 Surviving are a son, Jack G. of Toronto; two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Nora) Rau of Windsor, Mrs. Arthur (Nina) Stevens of Waterloo; two brothers, Clayton B. of Saskatoon and William B. of Bay City, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Louis (Priscilla) Dahmer of Kitchener, Mrs. J. D. Clairmont of Marmora, and 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. by Rev. A. Ward Woolner. Burial will be in First Mennonite Cemetery.

Ewen, she was born in Elora, but had lived in the Twin Cities for more than 50 years. She was a member of Alma Street United Brethren Church. She and Mr. Doerr were married in 1913. Surviving are her husband, one son, John G. Doerr of Windsor, and two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Nora) Rau of Windsor and Mrs. Arthur (Nina) Stevens of Waterloo. Also surviving are a brother, George Ewen of Toronto, and six sisters, Mrs. Amos Wilker of Baden, Mrs. Clayton Doerr of Saskatoon, Sask., Mrs. Clarence Milburn of Windsor, Mrs. Albert Miller and Mrs. Norma McLean, both of Detroit, and Mrs. Clarence Schnarr of Sarnia. There are 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until Thursday at 2 p.m. when a service will be conducted by Rev. A. Ward Woolner. Burial will be in First Mennonite Cemetery.
