    Eby.-David B. Eby was born Oct. 18, 1846, in Waterloo Co., Ont.; died Nov. 10, 1921; aged 75 y. 23 d. He was converted 40 years ago and joined the Mennonite Church to which he remained faithful to the end. In January, 1881, he was married to Hannah Bowman who preceded him in September, 1895. The following year he was married to Mary Bechtel. He leaves a sorrowing widow, one son, three daughters, and four grandchildren. Funeral Nov. 12 at First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, conducted by the brethren, U. K. Weber and Jonas Snider

    EBY. - On Sept. 21st 1895, near Berlin, Waterloo Co., Ont., Hannah, wife of David Eby, aged 46 years and 23 days. A sorrowing husband and four young children, one son and three daughters, mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. She was for many years a consistent member of the Mennonite church. Buried Sept. 23rd in the C. Eby cemetery, on which occasion S. Bowman and Moses Erb preached appropriate funeral sermons.

    Henry Eby, "the youngest in the family of Samuel Eby, was born January 12th, 1825. On November 11th, 1845, he was married to Maria Bauman who was born March 2nd, 1824, and died April 19th, 1875. For some time they resided on the old homestead, but afterwards moved on a farm one mile north-east of Bridgeport, Ontario. Some eighteen years ago he moved to Berlin where his wife and two of his daughters died. Since the marriage of his daughter, Elizabeth, to Aaron B. Shantz he has made his home with her. She resides about one and one-half miles south of Berlin. He had a family of five children"

    the 17th of March, 1898, in Rosedale, Waterloo Co., Ont., after an illness of many months, of paralysis, Bro. Henry Eby, in the 74th year of his age. He was the son of Samuel Eby and was born Jan. .12th, 1825. He was married to Maria Baumann, Nov. 11th, 1845. His wife died April 19th, 1875. He was afterward married to Hannah, widow of Abraham Buehler. Bro. Eby was a devoted and highly esteemed member of the Mennonite Church. He was a patient sufferer during his last long illness, and we believe he has entered the eternal rest. Of his five children two sons and one daughter survive. The remains were laid to rest on the 20th at the C. Eby M. H., Berlin, where a large concourse of relatives and friends gathered to pay the last tribute of love to the departed.

    Samuel Eby, "the sixth son of Michael Eby, was born August 27th, 1785. In June, 1807, he came to Canada with Benjamin Eby, Daniel Eby, David Eby and others. On December 25th (Christmas), 1808, he was married to Elizabeth Brech who was born August 13th, 1789, and died November 28th, 1872. Soon after his marriage he was ordained deacon of the Mennonite Church, which position he held till the time of his death. Their farm was within the present corporation limits of the town of Berlin, Ontario, and their farm buildings were situated a little to the north of the Grand Trunk Railroad, right at the foot of the hill on the east side of the road leading from Berlin to Bridgeport. Their farm is now cut into small town lots. He died January 25th, 1844. They had a family of five children"

    Samuel Eby, who bought part of Lot 3, G. C. T., was a cousin of Benjamin Eby and Samuel Eby of Lot No. 18. He espoused Elizabeth Beech, and built a loghouse at the foot of the hill in Lancaster Street, where the Conger coal-office stands. First he cleared off the forest over to the House of Refuge. Later on he sold building lots to incoming villagers. He was a deacon in the Mennonite Church1a

    Benjamin Baumann, "eldest son of Wendel and Maria (Huber) Baumann, was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, February 15th, 1787. He was married to Susannah, daughter of Joseph and Magdalena (Allenbach) Bechtel. She was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, June 16th, 1797 and died September 19th, 1870. In spring of 1815 he came to Canada, prospecting the country. He found Waterloo to be a favorable county for the forming of settlements. In fall of the same year, he in company with Jonathan B. Baumann and John Brubacher (Deacon Johney), returned to Pennsylvania. In 1818 he, in company with Christian Burkholder and family, John Good and family, old Betty Baumann (wife of Peter Baumann), old Esther Cressman, Samuel Bechtel and others, came from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Waterloo County, Ontario Canada, making the journey in 28 days. On arriving here he settled on lot No. 54, German Company's Tract, township of Waterloo, about two miles south-east of Berlin, where he resided until his death. The farm is now owned by his son, Rev. Samuel Baumann. They had a family of nine children."
