    JOSEPH LLOYD HAGEY

    1910-2006 Passed away, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 1, 2006, at age 95. Beloved husband of the late Bertha May Hagey. Dear father of Rebecca Hagey and her husband Robert MacKay, Mary Hagey and Boris Skljarevski, John Hagey and his wife Brenda, and Thomas Hagey and his wife Heather; loved grandfather of Aaron Hagey-MacKay, Kim McIntosh, Steve McIntosh and Brennan Hagey and step-grandfather to Mitchell Blaine and Ashlee Blaine. Lloyd was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Wolfe and Grace Campbell. Friends are invited to share their memories of Lloyd with his family at the Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The casket will also be open from 1-1: 30 p.m. on Thursday prior to the procession to Preston Cemetery for interment. A memorial service to celebrate Lloyd's life and faith will be held at Fairview Mennonite Home on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 2: 30 p.m. followed by a reception.     Bertha May - Passed away, on Saturday, January 11, 2003, at her residence, Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of Lloyd Hagey; dear mother of Rebecca Hagey and her husband Robert MacKay, Mary Hagey and Boris Skljarevski, John Hagey and his wife Brenda and Thomas Hagey and Heather Blaine. Loving grandmother of Aaron Hagey-MacKay, Kim McIntosh, Steve McIntosh and Brennan Hagey. Predeceased by her brothers, Garfield, John, Tom and Gord Beattie and her sister, Ann Stollery. Mrs. Hagey's family will receive friends in the auditorium at Fairview Mennonite Home, Cambridge on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 from 4-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Fairview Mennonite Home on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at 2 p.m. Interment Preston Cemetery.

    MRS. HENRY SNYDER

    Edith May Beirnes, widow of the late Henry Snyder and formerly Mrs. Irvine S. Hagey, died in St., Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, yesterday, in her 50th year, The late Mrs. Snyder was born in Puslinch township, attended school in Holland township and lived the greater part of her life in this district. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Biernes. Ailing for some time the deceased was removed to the hospital yesterday morning. An active member in the work of the Zion United church, the deceased was a life member of the Women's Missionary Society of that church. She was also a member of the Women's Institute. She married Henry Snyder in 1934. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John (Dorothy) Wolfe, of Dobbington, and Miss Grace Hagey, at home; a son, Lloyd Hagey, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Theron Sauder and Mrs. Hazel Strenks, both of Waterloo township, Mrs. James Peacock of Dobbington and Mrs. Oscar Asmussen of North Battleford; four brothers, Edward Beirnes, Markdale, John Beirnes, Owen Sound, William Beirnes, Denver, Colorado, and Wellington Beirnes of Williamsfort, Ont. There are four grandchildren, Irvine, Ronald, William and Gerald Wolfe. Her first husband, Mr. Hagey, predeceased her eight years ago, and her second husband, Mr. Snyder, predeceased her in 1934. The remains are resting at the late residence, Breslau road. The funeral will take place on Thursday with a short private service at the residence, Breslau road, followed by service in Zion United church at 2 p.m. Interment will be made in Preston cemetery.

    Joseph B. Hagey, "was born October 4th, 1848. He possesses the old 'Bishop Hagey' homestead on the east side of the road leading from Preston to Breslau. He is a good farmer and is highly esteemed by all classes of people. He has been a member of the township council for some time. 'Young Joseph' (or Der jung Josey Hagey) as he is generally called, is married to Rebecca Snyder. They have a family of five children"

    HAGEY - Joseph B. Hagey was born Oct. 4, 1848; died Oct. 1, 1924, just three days before his 76th birthday. He was a son of Bishop Joseph Hagey, who served the Mennonite Church a generation ago, and he spent his entire life on the old homestead. On Sept. 11, 1877, he was married to Rebecca Snyder. To this union were born six children (Edith, Irvin, Elsie, Lora, Walter, and Samuel). Samuel died in infancy, Walter at the age of 5, and Elsie, wife of Dr. Sauder, in 1918. He left a sorrowing companion, one son, two daughters, two brothers, one sister and 11 grandchildren. The funeral was held on his 76th birthday from his late home to the Cressman Mennonite Church for services and adjoining cemetery for burial. Services conducted by Brethren Whitham and Oscar Burkholder. Text, Romans 14: 10.
