    Death of Mr. Jacob Shupe

An aged and esteemed citizen passed away on Tuesday, in the person of Jacob Shupe, of Victoria Avenue. Fifteen years had the deceased lived in Galt, his former home being in Preston and during that time he gained the respect and regard of all who knew him. He was for many years an employee of the Goldle-McCulloch Co., but latterly had worked for Clare Bros., Preston. He was a carpenter by trade and a skilled workman. He had been ailing for about a year, and during that period was unable to follow his calling. He appeared to be in better health the last two weeks, but it was only a temporary improvement, as he soon lost strength and finally succumbed to the malady with which he was afflicted. His widow and one son, Wellington, of this town, survive him. His other son died some years ago. The deceased, who was 74 years old, was a valued member of the Methodist Church, with which he had long been connected. A just man gone to his reward, may rightly be applied to the late Mr. Shupe, whose memory, as an upright, honest and God-fearing man, will not soon be forgotten. The funeral will take place from his late residence, at 2 o'clock on Thursday afternoon, to Mount View cemetery.

    ROSENBERGER
    - On the 10th of April, 1893, in Preston, Waterloo Co., Ontario, Bro. Joseph Rosenberger, aged 68 years, 3 months and 16 days. Bro. Rosenberger had been suffering of dropsy for some time. He had spent nearly all his life in self-righteousness, yet during his sickness and the many severe spells, he experienced his lost condition and repented of his sins, and five days previous to his death he united with the church by baptism, from that time on he had peace and joyfully awaited death to make an end to his suffering. He remained conscious till the very last. He left a bright hope for the future. He was buried on the 13th in Hagey's graveyard. Funeral services by _____ Pomeroy and Jacob B. She was born in this county, May 15th, 1811. After his marriage he resided on a farm near that of his father's where he remained several years. Being persuaded by some parties to quit the life of an husbandman and begin that of an inn-keeper, he left the farm now in possession of James Cowan and moved to Dundas where he took possession of the old hotel known as 'Peter Bomberger's', a great resort for travellers from all parts of the northern and western counties. But being brought up to the business of agriculture he soon became so disgusted with the life of 'innkeeping' that after the short stay of six months he disposed of his business in Dundas and returned to Waterloo, the county of his adoption. After his return he settled in Wilmot Township, several miles west of New Dundee, on the farm now in possession of John Master, his grandson. From here he moved to Plattsville, Oxford County, where he resided until 1891, thence to Berlin where he and his aged partner are spending the evening of their lives with their son Isaac, ex-M. P. P. Here they have a pleasant home and the loving care of all. To him and his first wife was born a family of six children"
