    Notes:

    DEANS, WILLIAM CARTER practised in Galt for ten years from 1864, but little information is available considering the length of his residence there.

    Physician, Surgeon, Accoucheur, &c. Graduate of Queen's University, Provincial Licentiate, and late Surgeon U. S. Army, Stationed at Port humbolt, California. Office North Water St. Galt, in the residence formerly occupied by Dr. Richardson.

    The Dumfries Reformer September 16, 1868 carried a notice.

    REMOVAL Jr. Deans has Removed from his late residence, Opposite Kay's Waggon shop, to the House formerly occupied by Mr. J. B. Allwood opposite the Dickson Mills.

    The final entry appears in the Canada Lancet July 1876: died on Tuesday 13th. June, at his residence in Colborne, W. Carter Jeans, M. D., late of Oshawa, aged 39.

    William Carter Deans was a native of New York. He took his medical training at Queen's College where he attained his medical degree in 1861. Dr. Deans followed the practice of his life's work at Galt, Ontario, Oshawa and Colborne. He was united in marriage to Alice Georgina Groves of Colborne on December 26, 1864. Dr. William Carter Deans died at Colborne of mesenteric tuberculosis on June 13, 1876, aged 39.
