    Death of William Mitchell
    Presbyterian Church Loses Senior Elder

The death occurred on Saturday evening, about 8 o'clock, on his farm, three miles west of Waterloo, of one of the most respected farmers of this county, in the person of William Mitchel, at the age of 67 years and 6 days. Deceased had been ill for a long time, and bore his sufferings with Christian patience and fortitude.

The late Mr. Mitchel was born near Winterbourne, Woolwich Tp., on Oct. 3rd, 1842. In 1866 he was married to Eliza Burnett of that neighborhood, and they moved to a farm in Waterloo Tp., three miles west of Waterloo. Their union was blessed with a family of 8 children, 4 sons, James, William, Edward, and George, and 4 daughters, Mrs. B.B. Playford, Mrs. Jac. Good, Mrs. David Graf, and Miss Maggie at home. These, together with his widow survive to mourn the loss of a kind father and living husband. The funeral was held this (Tuesday) afternoon from his residence in Waterloo Tp., to the Presbyterian Cemetery n Winterbourne. After the service at the house, 1 o'clock, the funeral cortege proceeded to the burying ground at Winterbourne where the remains (note several words missing in next section) ? were deposited in ? beside those ? his ?of a most ? ..ial disposition. In his ? he took an active interest in ? municipal affairs, of his township, and for several years he was a member of the township council. He also served as a member of the Erbsville Public School Board for about five years. He will be greatly missed n the Waterloo Presbyterian Church, where, for many years he had held the position of senior elder. He was one of the founders of the church, and for many years held the position of precentor, before the congregation purchased an organ to assist in the service of song. His kindness of heart and willingness to assist wherever help was needed, endeared him to all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance, and his hosts of friends both here and in the townships where he was known, will extend their sincerest sympathy to the stricken family, in their hour of sore bereavement. ? rest in peace.
