      _____________

Death of Mrs. Idington - When we referred to the serious illness of this lady last week, it was felt that in all human probability the announcement of her death would not be long delayed; and so it has turned out. Mrs. Idington expired at the residence of her husband, West Main street, on Saturday morning last. The deceased lady was widely known in Galt and the township of Waterloo, and was universally respected. Her aged partner in life is left to mourn her loss, together with one son, Mr. John Idington, of Stratford, and one daughter, Miss Idington, of Galt. She was in the 75th year of her age.

      IDINGTON, ALEXANDER

Two sons of Peter and Catherine Idington, Alexander and Walter, died of consumption, the former some ten or twelve years ago (1872-1874).

      IDINGTON, CATHERINE (Nee Stewart)

The Galt Reformer says: Mrs. Peter Idington, to whose serious illness we referred in our last issue, succumbed on Saturday morning, 12th July 1884, in the 75th year of her age. Mrs. Idington emigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland, to this country in 1834, in company with her brothers, who settled in the township of Flamborough but afterwards removed to the Western States, where they died several years ago. In 1839, she married Peter Idington, who had emigrated from Berwickshire, Scotland in 1833 and settled in the township of Puslinch. They resided in that township until about 1853, when they removed to the neighbourhood of Hespeler, in the township of Waterloo. Four or five years ago, they removed to Galt, leaving their youngest son, Walter, on the farm. Mrs. Idington was much respected by all who knew her. She leaves her aged partner, one son and one daughter - John Idington, Q. C. of Stratford and Miss Idington of Galt. Two sons, Alexander and Walter, died of consumption, the former some ten or twelve years ago, the latter two years ago. Mrs. Idington was sister-in-law to David Allan of Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. Allan and Colonel Higinbotham attended the funeral on Tuesday.
