    • FORMER ELMIRA MAN MEETS TRAGIC DEATH - On Sunday word reached here that Herman Christman, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Christman here, had been drowned at Pembroke, where he had been living for the past few months. Particulars obtained later state that he and two other men left Pembroke on Friday to go duck shooting on Mud Lake several miles from Pembroke. No uneasiness on their account was felt when they did not return on Friday evening, because parties often spend a night at a hunter's cottage there in order to get a shot in the morning. When they did not return next day, however a search was begun, and early Sunday morning the dead bodies of the three men were found in shallow water not far from the shore. From all appearances the death of the unfortunate men was not primarily due to drowning, but to cold and exhaustion they not being able to make headway in the miry bottom of the lake and reach shore when their canoe upset.

The remains were brought to Guelph where Mrs. Christman's parents live, and were buried on Wednesday. Among those who went over to the funeral from here were: Mrs. Elizabeth Christman, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Christman, Mrs. Jane Christman, Mr. Henry V. Christman, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dunke, Mrs. Fred Conrad, sr., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dunke, Mr. C. Klinck, sr., the Misses Carrie and Lizzie Klinck, Messrs. F. C. Meyer, Adolph and Herman Werle and Henry Conrad.
