Notes |
- Death came with tragic suddenness last evening to Andrew Kidd Sr., of 16 Todd Street. Deceased had been enjoying his usual good health and without warning was taken away. It was about 8: 45 last evening that he left his chair in his home to answer the telephone and had just hung-up the receiver when he dropped dead, from a heart attack.
The late Mr. Kidd was a big man and apparently in the best of health. He was in his 64th year and was born in Larbert, Scotland, coming to Canada with his family 15 years ago and after a year spent in Hamilton moved to Galt where he had lived ever since, being employed as a blacksmith at the Babcock-Wilcox Goldie and McCulloch north works.
Deceased was a member of the Masonic Order of Scotland and of the Galt Burns Club. At attended Central Presbyterian church and was very well known in the city. He was married twice and was predeceased by his first wife, 13 years ago. Besides his widow, there survive three daughters and four sons, Mrs. Gabbitas of Detroit, Mrs. Hotchkiss, Augusta Street, city; Agnes of Detroit, William of 570 Dundas Street, Peter, 23 Todd Street; Andrew 566 Dundas St., and Gilmour, 87 Aberdeen Road, all of Galt. Three brothers and five sisters in Scotland, also survive.
The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 2: 30 from his late residence, 16 Todd Street to Mount View Cemetery.
