    • Death of John R. Callanan.

We regret to announce this week the death of Mr. John R. Callanan, which occurred at the family home in Haysville, on Monday afternoon, Nov. 5th, after a brief illness. He took seriously ill here about a week before his death and was removed to his home in Haysville. His death came as a shock to his wide circle of friends. The deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Callanan and was born at Haysville 55 years ago. About forty years ago he came to New Hamburg and entered into the employ of Rieder and Ruby as clerk in the store. Later he clerked in the store of D. and C. Becker for many years and for the past few years he was connected with his brother Andrew in the implement business. The deceased was of a genial disposition and was well and favorably known throughout this district. He was unmarried but is survived by three brothers and one sister, James of Woodstock, Thomas of Plattsville, and Andrew and Miss Margaret Callannan of Haysville. The funeral took place on Wednesday from the family residence to Christ's Church, Haysville, for service, thence to Pine Hill cemetery. The obsequies were conducted by Rev. Mr. Mitchell and were attended by many relatives and friends.
