      World War Two D-Day Veteran

      Albert passed away peacefully at the Maples Nursing Home, Tavistock, two days short of his 92nd birthday. Albert is survived by his wife, Mary Loft (nee Robertson), children Patricia Bourque (Louis), Tom Loft (Mary), Albert W. Loft (Faith), Arthur Loft (Carol Young), Bill Loft, Mary Ann Loft-DeMarco (Joe). Grandfather of Dana Wipperman, Niki Dalbello, Michelle Fitzpatrick, Tom Loft Jr., Josh Loft, Jonathan Loft, Tiffany Delsaut, Paul Loscher, Ainslie Loft, Eric Loft, Emily Loft, Elaine Loft, Eden DeMarco, Avery DeMarco and his many cherished great-grandchildren. Albert enlisted in 1939 with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry 2nd Division, and served his country in the Second World War as a Signal Man, and participated in the second landing on D-Day in Normandy, and in the liberation of Holland. After the war, Albert and Mary owned and operated Loft's Groceteria on McKay Street in Galt. They retired to Southampton for many happy years and returned to Waterloo in 2009 to be with their family. Visitation will be held on June 10th at T. Little Funeral Home Centre 223 Main St Cambridge (Galt) (519-623-1290). Hours of visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, June 11th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery in Cambridge (Preston).
