Notes |
- BRUSSELS DISASTER.
"Residents of Brussels & area were shocked when three men, Philip Ament, Richard Hingston aand Neil Milloy were engaged taking down a dry kiln on the site of Ament Bros' stave factory, recently destroyed by fire. Without a moments warning the walls collapsed & Hingston & Milloy were caught under the fallen timber. The former fortunately fell between the joists and thereby escaped with a badly bruised shoulder & back. Milloy was struck on the head, and it is feared that his skull is fractured. He is in a semi-conscious state. Henry Wilbee, Mr Ament's father-in-law, was watching the men at work and was pinned down by the wall. He lived only about an hour after being rescued. He was nearly 70 yrs of age and highly esteemed. Mr. Ament escaped by a hair's breadth.
A gloom was cast over the village by the occurrence. 1893."
