- EBY, Robert - at Sunnyside Home, surrounded by family, on Monday, August 4, 2008. Beloved husband of Patricia Ann (nee McGarry) for 63 years. Loving father of Brian Patrick Eby (Laura), Kevin Ann Reinhart (David), Mary Pat Alarie (Ray), Shawn Patrice Eby and Roberta Jane Borrillo (Angelo). Grandfather to David (Meghan), Meaghan, Patrick, Matthew, Colleen, Amy, Ben (Khrista), Maggie, Rob, Lizzie (deceased), Peter, Louis and Tom. Great-grandfather to Charlotte. Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Gordon and Donald, and his sister, Mildred. Proud alumnus of Waterloo College (Laurier) and the University of Western Ontario, Robert, as the City Treasurer, dedicated 37 years of faithful service to the City of Kitchener before retiring in 1983. Robert served in the North Atlantic on corvette duty for the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War, attaining the rank of first lieutenant. Our Dad and Grampa also held the roles of Family Archivist, Poet Laureat, Songster and Story Teller. The backroads beckon - For brook trout await! "As you were, men." The family will receive relatives and friends today (Thursday) from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday from 10-10: 45 a.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A Catholic service will be celebrated by Father Mark Sullivan in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. A luncheon reception will follow. As an expression of sympathy, a donation to Community Living Guelph Wellington (Shawn's Group Home) would be appreciated. Cards will be available at the funeral home.
