    • Mrs. Christian Letter

      An aged and respected citizen of Waterloo passed away in the person of Mrs. Christian Letter, who died at the K. and W. hospital on Saturday morning where she had undergone an operation. The aged lady despite her 87 years, enjoyed splendid health and was quite active until a short time ago when her health failed. The late Mrs. Letter was born in Kildorf Prise Alsace on January 27, 1836 and in 1854 came to Waterloo where she has since resided. In 1856 she was married to Christian Letter who predeceased her 16 years. Of a family of twelve children, five survive, namely John, Mary (Mrs. John D. Schneider), Elizabeth (Mrs. Geo. Schmidt), and Emma (Mrs. Geo. Kalbfleisch) all of Waterloo, and Sophia (Mrs. J. Schaaf) of Kitchener. Also one brother, John Riehm of Listowel, 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral took place from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. Schmidt, 63 Water St., Waterloo, on Monday afternoon at two o'clock, and was largely attended by friends and relatives. Interment took place at Mount Hope cemetery.
