Notes |
- In North Dumfries, on Monday, 13th inst., Wm. O'Neaill, aged 72 years.
By the death of Mr. O'Neaill, Dumfries has lost one of its oldest and most respected residents. The primary cause of death was an accident which occurred to him on March 29th. While feeding some stock one of the boards of the floor of the loft in which he was broke, and he fell a distance of about 12 feet, breaking his thigh-bone. Since the time of the accident Mr. O'Neaill has been confined to his bed, and, although the limb had shown signs of knitting, nature gave way under the shock, and he sank quietly to his rest on Monday last. Mr. O'Neaill came to this country from County Down, Ireland, in 1832, settling at once on the farm on which he died. He was a most kindly, genial man, and his death will be much regretted by his numerous friends. The deceased's Funeral was one of the largest that ever passed through Galt.
