Notes - MILES, Laurence Frederick Cecil - Born July 31, 1926 in London, England and died on Wednesday, May 7, 2008. Predeceased by his parents, Maurice Beverley-Hall Miles and Maud Catherine Lawrence and also his eight older brothers and sisters. Survived by his special companion and dearest friend, Edith, whom he greatly loved and his two sons, Adrian and Tim and his daughter, Fiona. He served in the Second World War in Europe, North Africa and Palestine and had a 35 year career with Shell International Petroleum Company serving in Holland, U.K., Brunei, Sarawak and Venezuela. he retired as General Manager Shell U.K. Materials Services in 1983. He was a graduate of many learned Institutes. He loved to watch and play golf, sit in front of his computer and was found on many a day downloading the many photographs that he took of the family. His love of music, singing and playing the organ or piano meant he was often involved with his and Edith's church. His claim to fame was to be broadcast on the BBC as a boy soprano so many years ago. He will be dearly missed by Edith and his family, who loved him so much. A funeral service will be held at David MacLeod Funeral Home , 617 King St. N., Waterloo, on Monday, May 12, 2008 at 3: 30 p.m. Father Edward Sheridan officiating. Cremation has taken place. A reception will follow the service in the funeral home reception room. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary's General Hospital or Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church would be appreciated by the family and many be arranged by contacting the funeral home at 519-888-7700.
