  SCHUMILAS, Joseph John - Passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Forest Heights Long Term Care at the age of 90. Joseph John Schumilas ("Uncle Joe") was born in Kitchener, February 23, 1918. He was predeceased by his parents, Wicenty Franciszek Szumilas and Jozefa (nee Kurek) and all his siblings, William John, Alexander Frank, Felix James, Adam (in infancy), Anthony Joseph, and Helen Mary Tremblay. He is survived by nieces and nephews, Harry, Delphine, James, Ralph, Theresa, Dawn, Pierre, April, Candee, Bonni and Looey; grandnieces and grandnephews, Lisa, Bret, Maureen, James, Christopher, Tanis, Genevieve and Evan; as well as his honorary family, Lorraine, John, Sandra, Tyler, Shelby-Lynn, Sarah, Candice, Dylan, Cassidy, Brandon, Dean and Jenn as well as Gaye, Jillian and Joel; plus many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. We wish to especially thank Lorraine who became Uncle Joe's beloved "daughter" and caregiver in recent years. Joe has been a resident at Forest Heights Long Term Care for the last two years, and we would like to thank the nursing staff for their compassionate care and helping make his days better. He was everyone's Uncle Joe. He lived life to the fullest, loving animals and nature and while he had none of his own, surrounded himself with children his whole life. He will always remain our favourite Valentine. A celebration of Uncle Joe's life will be held at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 from 2 p.m. followed by visitation until 4 p.m. Family and friends are all welcome.
