- HOFSTETTER, Arnold Ray - Passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on December 3, 2006, at Grand River Hospital, in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Colleen Hofstetter (nee Sloan) for 57 years. Loving father of Anne Scharman of Belize, Steve Hofstetter (Jane Siddall) of Vancouver, Judy Link and her husband Ralph of Maryhill. Dear grandfather of Chantelle (Ari), Kyle and Nicholas. Cherished great-grandfather of Alina and Elijah. Survived by his brothers, Gerald Hofstetter of Cambridge, Clair Hofstetter (Betty) of Kitchener; sisters, Helen Hofstetter of Toronto, Joy White (Gordon) of Stouffville; brothers-in-law, Clarence Sloan of Boston, Harold Sloan of Winnipeg and Grace Baer (Willis) of Kitchener. Ray will be fondly remembered by his dear friend, Mieke Van Staalduinen of the Netherlands, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Milton Hofstetter (1947) and Annie Dedels (1951) and by his sisters-in-law, Helen Hofstetter, Phyllis Sloan and Mona Sloan. Ray was a dedicated employee for 36 years of Arrow Shirt Company before his retirement in 1986. He was also a long time member of Emmanuel United Church in Waterloo. During his life he enjoyed traveling, gardening and hanging out with his friends, the Coupon Clippers. Visitation and funeral dates and times have yet to be confirmed.
