    • CLEMENS, MARGARET (Nee Shaw)

A well-known resident of this community throughout her entire life, Mrs. Abram Clemens, at her home on Lewis St. in Hespeler on Tuesday afternoon, March 18, 1941, in her 79th year. She had been in poor health for the past two years and had been seriously ill with a heart ailment for about three weeks. Daughter of the late James and Margaret Shaw, she was born on the Shaw farm on the Townline between Waterloo and Wellington Townships on June 30, 1862. Following her marriage, she moved to the Clemens farm near Fisher's Mills. Four years ago, she moved to Hespeler. Mrs. Clemens was an active member of the United Church and was identified with several of the women's groups. She possessed a quiet and retiring disposition, her main interest centring on her home and family but enjoyed the respect and esteem of a wide circle of friends. Her husband passed away some nine years ago. Surviving are one son, Arthur S. Clemens of Waterloo Township; one daughter, Miss Marion Clemens of Hespeler; and one brother, William C. Shaw of Hespeler. Two brothers and three sisters are deceased: John and Thomas Shaw, Mrs. James Dean, Mrs. D. S. Ferguson and Miss Marion Shaw. The funeral was held from her residence and interment was made in Hespeler Cemetery. Rev. D. E. Foster, pastor of the United Church conducted the service.
