Notes - KROPF, Ruth - Ruth Katie Ann Kropf, 77, of Tavistock passed away in Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday, October 30, 2007. She was born in South Easthope Township on January 8, 1930, a daughter of the late Aaron Schlegel and the former Barbara Sommers. She will be remembered for her hospitality, generosity and caring spirit. She always wished the best for everyone. She was a member of the East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th Line. Ruth is survived by her husband and companion of 56 years, Lorne Joseph Kropf, whom she married in East Zorra Township on September 29, 1951; her children, Dale (Grace) of Stratford, Gloria (Liwana) of Waterloo, Bruce (Cindy) and Kevin (Carolyn), all of RR 1, Shakespeare, Larry (Tracey) of RR 1, Tavistock; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister and friend, Reta Baechler of Stratford; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Florence Schlegel of Tavistock, Violet and Don Moores of Kitchener, Erma Kropf of London, Mary and Ellis Shantz of Tavistock, Verna Martin Hughes of Chatham, John and Arlene Kropf of RR 1, Tavistock. Also remembered by Ron (Kathy) Nafziger and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilfred and Emma Schlegel, Alvin and Clara Schlegel, Roy and Ruth Schlegel and Earl Schlegel and by brothers-in-law, Floyd Baechler, Sam Martin and al Hughes. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home , 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock today (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th Line on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 2 p.m. Interment in East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery, 16th Line. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 1-519-655-2431.

KROPF (Schlegel), Ruth - The pearly gates were opened, a gentle voice said "Come"; and with farewells left unspoken, she gently entered home. One year ago, October 30, Mom/ Grandma died as she lived, surrounded by her family. We miss her physical presence but deeply value the many life lessons she taught us. Her helping hand was always first to render any aid she could. Her voice was always raised in praise, her words were wise and good. We mourn for her in silence; no eyes can see us weep, but many a silent tear is shed while others are asleep. Deep in our hearts you'll always stay, loved and remembered every day, Lorne, Dale and Grace, Gloria and Liw, Bruce and Cindy, Kevin and Carolyn, Larry and Tracey and families
