    • WITT, Ella G. Ella was born on May 17, 1923 in Lodz, Poland and passed away peacefully in her sleep at Lanark Heights, Kitchener, on May 5, 2010 at the age of 86. As a young child, Ella and her family homesteaded in Saskatchewan, but eventually settled in Hespeler. Formerly of Kitchener (1946-65) and Brantford (1965-2007). Lovingly remembered by her husband Arthur Witt whom she married in 1946. Caring mother of Linda Schmidt (Herminio) of Kitchener and Paul (Jacqui) of Tsawwassen, B.C. Beloved Omi to Monica Lammert (Thomas) and Raymond Schmidt (Michelle and son Nico), and Granny to Matthew (Kortney), Jonathan (Ali) and Benjamin Witt. Dear sister of Erna Amstein (Roy). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Auguste Hamp and by her brothers Hugo and Alfred Hamp. Ella was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Brantford and was a faithful and active member of the 34 Club in Brantford. She was a perfectionist in the kitchen, an excellent seamstress and an immaculate housekeeper. Her doughnuts and potato pancakes were the best! Ella loved dancing, playing cards, puzzles and crosswords. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to all of the caregivers at Lanark Place and Lanark Heights who helped provide much comfort and care to Ella. Cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home , 621 King St. W., Kitchener at a later date. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society (www.alzheimers.ca) would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be made at www.ratzbechtelfuneralhome.com
