- WELLEIN, Catherine Eileen Passed away peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on May 21, 2011, at the age of 89. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Charles (1983). Loving sister of Elaine Wellein and Joan Fackoury. Will be fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Mary Wellein; nieces and nephews, Verenna (Terry) Finlay, Debbi Schreiter, Frances (Bill) Wellein, Nancy Wellein, Mary Anne Wellein, Stephen Fackoury, Mark (Anita) Fackoury, Andrea Hilker, Donna (Jim) Meagher, Pat (Ron) Hayward, Connie (John) Kraft, Susan (Nelson) Pleau, and Edward (Lorrie) Wellein and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Clayton and Hannah Shantz; brothers, Maurice (Bud), Harold (Curly) and Donald (in infancy); brothers-in-law, Frank Wellein, Anthony Fackoury, Edward (Bud) Wellein, Sidney Wellein; sisters-in-law Ronnie Shantz and Joyce Csanady and nephew, Ron Hilker. Catherine was a life long member of Emmanuel United Church, an active Lifetime Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, Waterloo Branch #530 for 54 years. Catherine had held various positions of office during these years. She was a long-time employee of the Globe Furniture Company, a volunteer with the K-W Poppy Fund and spent many hours playing cards with friends and enjoyed seniors activities and traveling with SABLE. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Catherine with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday (today), May 24th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A combined Legion and Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Tribute will be held on Tuesday at 6: 30 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. Rev. Dr. Bruce Sweet to officiate. A reception will follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home.
