Notes |
- Death of Miss Hunter
The death occurred in Galt Hospital on Tuesday, May 13th, of Elizabeth Hunter, daughter of the late James Hunter of Blenheim, in her 70th year. She was born on the middle town line of Blenheim, and had lived there until about 27 years ago when she moved to Galt with her brother, Robert. Coming to Ayr about 19 years ago she remained in Ayr or vicinity until the last two years which were spent in the hospital at Galt. She had been in poor health for many years and a helpless invalid for over five, but through it all her unselfishness and patience were remarkable and her bright smile, in spite of her afflictions, was an inspiration to all who were privileged to know her, for like the Prophet of old she "endured as seeing Him who is invisible." She was a member of Knox United Church and all her life, as long as she was able, had taken an active part in the work of the church wherever she had lived. She is survived by one brother, James Hunter of Drumbo. The funeral; was held on Thursday afternoon last from the home of her niece, Mrs. Hugh Baxter, with whom she had resided prior to going to the hospital. The pallbearers were: H. Russell, Andrew Easton, George Easton, Murdo Lillico, Douglas Lillico and Robert Patterson.
