- Passing of R. Herbert Millikin
Robert Herbert Millikin of 39 Barrie street, Galt, roadmaster for the Grand River Railway for the past three years, passed away suddenly Sunday morning at the Galt General Hospital after a week's illness, in his 65th year.
He was born at Maberly, Ont., and had spent all his life railroading. Before going to Galt, he had been roadmaster for the C.P.R. at Trenton, Smiths Falls, Perth, Havelock and Orangeville. The family lived in Ayr for many years.
He was a member of First United Church, Galt, of the Havelock Masonic Lodge, Orangeville I. O. O.F., and was a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star of Trenton.
Mr. Millikin is survived by his wife, the former Olive Gammon; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Watson (Doris) and Mrs. H. A. LaMorre (Bernice), both of Ottawa; one son, Hugh, Smiths Falls, and two sisters, Mrs. S. McLean, Woodstock, and Mrs. Jack Duman, St. Thomas, and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Robert, who lost his life serving with the R.C.A.F. in World War Two.
A Masonic service for Mr. Millikin was held Tuesday evening at the Coutts Funeral Home under the auspices of Galt Lodge 257. The funeral took place this (Wednesday) afternoon from the W. R. Coutts Funeral Home, Galt, interment being made in the Ayr Cemetery.
