  Death of Robert G. Hawes Robert G. Hawes, a long-time resident of Ayr, passed away at K-W Hospital on Friday, a short time after suffering a heart attack at his home here. Mr. Hawes, who was in his 66th year, had been in poor health for some time and was confined to hospital on several occasions. Born in Haysville in 1893, he was a son of the late Robert Hawes and Mary Howlett. He came to Ayr with the family in 1904 and had resided here since. During World War I he enlisted with the 111th Battalion and saw service overseas. Mr. Hawes was a member of Knox United Church. His wife, the former Florence Chesney, passed away January 17, 1957. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Donald Ramsay (Jean) of Preston; a sister, Mrs. William (Eva) Turnbull, Ayr, and three grandchildren. Funeral service was conducted at the W.R. Coutts Funeral Home, Galt, on Monday by Rev. W.J.V. Buchanan. Interment was made at Ayr Cemetery chapel. The pallbearers were members of the Canadian Legion; Clifford Challenger, Jack George, Jack Swan, Arthur Barber, George Merchant and Harold Mann. Ayr News Jan 22 1959 pg 10
