MRS. JAMES HILL LAID TO REST, WAS BORN AT FLORADALE
The funeral took place on Friday afternoon, of Mrs. James Hill, mother of Mrs. Harvey Haack of Elmira, the services being held at the home of Mr. Haack, where death occurred and at the Elmira Methodist Union Cemetery. Many from out of town attended the funeral, including Mr. C. Hembling of Grand Rapids, Mich., Mr. I. Gingrich also of Grand Rapids, Mr. 1. R. Hill of Listowel, Mr. and Mrs. N. C. Hill of Stratford, Mrs. O. R. Wallace and daughter of Guelph. Mrs. Austin of Guelph Mr. and Mrs. Victor Sheppard of Guelph, Mr. and Mrs. George Sheppard of Elora, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Harper of Elora, the Misses Fischer of Elora, Mrs. Goudie of Breslau, Miss A. Eby of Kitchener. Mrs. (Dr) Campbell of Kitchener, Mrs. (Dr.) Harvey of Kitchener. The late Mrs. Hill was an old and highly respected resident of Creek Bank neighborhood. Mrs. Hill's maiden name was Lydia Hembling. She was a daughter of the late Win. Hembling and was born at Floradale, on August 16th, 1856. Owing to the death of her mother, she removed while still young to Bay City, Michigan, where she made her home, with an older brother, Abe Hembling. Here she went through all the school grades and obtained a teacher's certificate. Returning to Floradale, on a visit to her father, she met Mr. James Hill and they were married, on February 28th, 1874 and the same year, settled on the farm on the 8th concession of Pilkington, now owned by Mr. N. S. Hoffer, which was their home till about eight years ago, when they sold out and retired to Elmira and have lived since then, either at Elmira or at Hanover. Besides her aged husband, who is in very feeble health, Mrs. Hill leaves the following family to mourn her loss: (Annie) Mrs. John Mills of Hanover; A. L. L. Hill, Red Jacket, Sask; W. H. A. Hill, Regina; W. S. Hill, Regina; (Mabel) Mrs. H. E. Haack, Elmira, (at whose home she died) and Mr. E. S. Hill of Hamilton. She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Wm. Hembling Grand Rapids, Mich; Henry Hembling, Alexandria, Louisiana; Mrs. John Gingrich, Grand Rapids; Samuel Hembling, Portland, Oregon; Isaac Hembling, Big Rapids, Mich; Mrs. Hanna Hough, St. Catharines; David Hembling, Flint, Mich; Christian Hembling, Grand Rapids; Mrs. Widemen, of Alberta and Mrs. Goudie, of Kitchener.
