Notes |
- Turner, Elsie May (Kibble)
The Lord quietly wrapped his child, Elsie in his arms and took her home on Monday, April 29, 2013. Elsie was welcomed into this world in a small home on Summit Avenue, in Galt to parents Alfred and Alice (Finch) Kibble and big brother Roy. She was the oldest of four girls: Doris, Audrey and Joan. As a young woman, Elsie joined the Canadian Women's Army Corps and was always proud of her service to Canada. She met her lifelong friend, Eleanor Hall in the CWAC and Elsie was featured in The Record on November 10, 2011 in the article, Grandma wore army boots. Elsie was married to her loving husband James (Jim) Turner (2009) for over 60 years. Elsie is survived by devoted daughters, Judy and Diane and their husbands, Bill Feeney and Joe Oliveira. Missing their loving grandma are Bryan Dearlove (Sarah Skoberg), Alison Dearlove (Lee Berry), Cameron Dearlove (Jenny Spiers), Michael Feeney (Alex Tronicek) and Heather Feeney. Elsie is also survived by her brother Roy (Margaret), her sister Joan (Wilfred Stahlbaum) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Audrey Husak (2008) and Doris Harvie (2012). Elsie was a talented artist and there was not a project she did not complete successfully. She enjoyed refinishing antiques, painting, pottery, ceramics, stitchery, doll making, quilting, knitting and crocheting, and often donated articles she made to various charities. Over the years, many medical staff assisted with Elsie's care and the family is thankful to all of them. Special thanks to the staff at Riverbend Place and Dr. James Gowing, who put her lymphoma into remission after 13 years of treatment. Elsie will be buried in Mount View Cemetery with Jim. Her friend and minister, Reverend Karen Kovats will officiate at the funeral service at St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church, 110 Francis Street Cambridge, on Tuesday, May 7 at 12 p.m. Anyone wishing to make a donation of sympathy is asked to consider Medical Day Care at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Donations may be made by contacting Corbett Funeral Home at 519-740-0669 or at www.corbettfuneralhome.ca
God Bless, our dear Mother.
