    • BLACK, ISABELLA (Nee Hammersley)

Another old resident, on Tuesday morning, December 5, 1922, Mrs. Thomas W. Black passed to her reward, at the home of her son, Vardon Black of Queen St. E. in Hespeler, after an illness of about a week, death being due to pneumonia. She was born on the 3rd concession in Puslinch Township nearly 73 years ago. She, her husband and family had resided in Galt for some years. On the death of her husband some twenty-five years ago, she moved to Hespeler from Galt and made her home with her son. In that quarter century, she has made many friends. Until the summer, Mrs. Black was quite active but a fall broke a bone in her foot and since that time, she has not been able to get around. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and in her younger days, took an active interest in church work. One son, Vardon, with whom she made her home, is left. Robert Hammersley is a brother. Mrs. Smith Evans of Puslinch and Mrs. Catharine Evans of Leamington are sisters. The funeral took place Thursday at 2: 30 from the residence of her son, Vardon. Rev. J. L. Small officiated. Interment will be at Mount View Cemetery in Galt, where her husband is buried.

-Information from the death certificate: Born on the 3rd concession of Puslinch on February 14, 1850.
