Well - Known Resident of Owen Sound toy 57 Years Passes Away in 84th Year
A very highly respected and esteemed Owen Sound resident for 57 years. Jacob Senna. passed away in the General and Marine Hospital about two o'clock on Saturday morning after an ailing illness of several years. Mr. Benner was a familiar figure on the streets of Owen Sound, where he had made a host of friends, who will deeply regret his death.
Deceased, who was 83 years old on Sept. 7th, was a son of the late John Benner and Helen Struthers and was born in West Mountrose in 1856. He came to Owen Sound where he became connected with the John Benner and Son Woollen Mills at Inglis Falls. Later he worked in the shipyards here. Then after retiring from the shipyards he went into the milk business, prior to his removing to Hepworth. He resided at Hepworth until about ten years ago when he returned to Owen Sound. Mr. Benner was united in marriage in 1880to Charlotte Emma Hambley, Who predeceased him about ten years ago. Deceased was a war veteran of the 31st Battalion severing twenty-one years of service. He was a faithful adherent of Division St. Church.
Left to survive his death are two daughters and four sons. namely: Mrs. George Breen of Owen Sound Mrs. James Walsh of Detroit, Cleve Benner and Ray Benner of Stratford. Percy of Highland Park. and John of Owen Sound; two sisters and one brother. Mrs. Jas. Cambell...
