    • MEINZINGER, Vincent G. - Vincent G. (Vince) Meinzinger, passed away on June 16, 2008, in his 83rd year. He leaves his life-long partner and loving wife, Blanche (Koch); and his close and loving family, daughter, Susan Robinson, her husband Brent and their daughter Katie of Burlington; daughter, Pamela Thorpe, her husband Terry and their two daughters Ashley and Hilary of Burlington; and one son, Howard, his wife Susan, their daughter Hailey and son William of Grimsby. Also survived by three sisters, Theresa Kraftchick, Agnes Allen, and Barbara Meinzinger, all in Kitchener. Predeceased by a son, Alan. Vince was a veteran of the Second World War and member of the Canadian Merchant Navy Veterans Association; a Life Member of Wentworth Lodge, No. 166, A.F.A.M. a 32nd degree member of the Moore Sovereign Consistory of the Scottish Rite of Ontario; The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 622, Stoney Creek. He was actively involved in the Kitchener and Waterloo Sales and Ads Club during his tenure in Kitchener. Past President of the Men's Ambitious City Toastmaster's Club, Hamilton, and also a popular guest speaker of many insurance functions. He was also a Life Member of the Life Underwriters Association of Canada and member of the C.L.U. Institute of Canada. These were attained during his 42 happy and successful years with the Paul Revere Insurance Co. (now RBC Insurance). He managed the starting of the first brokerage office for the company in Canada, in Toronto, then through its very successful years as the general manager of the leading brokerage office in the sale of disability insurance. He enjoyed his sales and training work and the daily contact with, and successes of his brokers, to the extent that he defied the retirement age barrier and continued until retirement at age 73. He and Blanche enjoyed the meetings with the other Canadian and U.S. general managers that were held in various meeting venues throughout the U.S. mainland, Hawaii, and Canada. He was pleased and proud that son, Howard joined him in 1984 and is still carrying on the work of training and working with brokers in the disability insurance vocation. Retirement years included their spending enjoyable months at their summer home at Orr Lake. Special thanks to the staff on the 5th floor ICU and CCU for their concern, help and wonderful care in Joseph Brant Hospital. It could not have been improved upon. Also special thanks to Dr. Kwok and Susan Clarkson (Palliative Care) for their solid support throughout a difficult time. Cremation has taken place. Dr. Bob Kemp was the family doctor for many years. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospices www.kemphospice.org. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Donald V. Brown Funeral Home . The family will honour Vince's life with a memorial service on Friday, June 20, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Stoney Creek United Church, 1 King Street West. Surely sunlight and starlight shall favour me on the voyage I take, and I will rest in the Port of My God, forever.
