JACOB SNYDER
After a brief illness, Jacob Snyder, 85, died early Tuesday at his home near Bloomingdale.
Born in Bloomingdale in 1868, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Snyder. In 1893 he married the former Hetty Steckle, who predeceased him 11 years ago. Mr. Snyder farmed near this village his entire lifetime and was a member of Snyder Mennonite Church, Bloomingdale.
Surviving are four sons, Elo, of Bloomingdale; Austin of Waterloo, Roy of Millbank; and Orlon of West Montrose; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One son, Ivan, and one daughter, Mrs. Adeline Bauman, predeceased him.
Funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the home, followed by a service at 2: 30 p.m. at Snyder Mennonite Church, with Rev. John Snyder officiating. Burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery. The body will rest at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 3 p.m. Wednesday when it will be removed to the residence.
